    2018ers Chit-Chat Thread

I think you should keep trying even if it seems difficult or pointless. If you feel your study isnt helping, a few things you can do include: - Talking to your teachers about your assessment marks and working with them to figure out how to improve in the future. Your teachers know that you're...

    2018ers Chit-Chat Thread

I've got modern, eng adv, visual arts, and geography back so far and they've been pretty great. Everything is over 95% so far, so I'm happy with it all.

Studying law but not set on being a lawyer?

I was wondering if it would be a bad idea if I studied a combined law degree if I don't have a massive desire to become a lawyer in the future. I enjoy studying law and I'm interested in learning about it, but it might be impractical to lengthen my time at uni for something I likely might not...

    UNSW LAT Test

I think it's Term 3 week 10 so I think school will be on. Last year they did two sessions, one at 9:30am and another at 1:30pm but I don't know whether they'll change it.

What are you guys doing in the holidays?

Last week I revised some geography topics and finished off some notes for extension english 1 (still have more to finish). I also worked on French reading and revising grammar points. This week I want to clock in at least 40 hours or so of doing my major work for Visual Arts (I couldn't start...

    Year 9 & 10 Chat Thread

About 43% of hsc students don't study any science (including me) and many of them get great ATARs, including 95+.

    ATAR Goal Evaporated?

These last 6 weeks or so have been a bit iffy for me in terms of how I feel about the HSC and I want to sort this out before we get too close to trials. My ATAR goal since Year 11 has been 99.9 just because it qualifies me for academic scholarships and also it is very high thus even if I don't...

    2018ers Chit-Chat Thread

Undecided but I have a few degrees that I've been looking at - Bachelor of Arts at Melbourne Uni - Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning at RMIT - Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) at UNSW One needs a 70 ATAR but another needs at least a 98 ATAR so just trying to keep options open at the moment.

If you can write 1.3k in 40 minutes then that should be fine! Consider shortening to about 1000 words if you can't fit the time constraints.

    ATAR Estimate / Guidance

If anyone could help me understand what sort of direction my ATAR is going, that would be great because I really have no idea what good results look like. School Rank 2017: 329 School Rank 2016: 215 School Rank 2015: 286 Subject | Mark | Rank | B6, 2017 | B6, 2016 | Year 11 Mark (Rank)...

    Language

Past papers are the best way to go to be honest. that includes HSC papers and past papers from VCE, SACE, etc. (if they offer modern greek as well). Also try reading greek news and listening to greek audio maybe in the form of news, films, or whatever you like really (just make sure you get the...

    2018ers Chit-Chat Thread

Month and year is great, but you will still do well if you only add the year because it still shows you are putting events into context. If you want to be more specific, you can add the day as well, but it's not always necessary and sometimes it can just be a pain to remember (it adds more...

    2018ers Chit-Chat Thread

Hey guys, I've just been thinking a lot about this whole HSC thing. I'm beginning to lose motivation and I'm becoming pretty disillusioned with this whole thing. Like I'm starting to lose all of the external motivations/reasons why I should be studying hard. I don't think I'm worthy of getting...

    2018ers Chit-Chat Thread

Ahhhh its going alright. I didn't realise my first half yearly, modern history, was next tuesday (thought it was wednesday) so I'm a bit shook at the moment, but I'm just keeping up to date with all the info and essay writing technique so it should be fine. English Module A essay is going...

Start with a conceptual statement before launching straight into context (idk maybe something about what specific aspect of both texts and their context is similar), but the context sentence is quite well written! Next step is just having enough textual evidence to support that claim :)

Should I drop to general Maths from Advanced mid HSC???

If 53% is nowhere near any of the marks in your other subjects then i say yes definitely do it, especially if you are planning on uni but none of the degrees your looking at need maths as a prerequisite. Just be sure to do as many past papers as possible in order to compensate for not formally...
