    ** Need help! Stuggling over Units/Scaling!! **

If you're positive its your worst subject, then yes, it's pointless to put effort into it for the HSC exams.

    95 HSC Mark?

School rank: 40 Adv maths rank: 14/72 "Report" mark: 90 (I'm assuming my submitted assessment mark is a little higher than this) What should I be aiming for in the exam for a final HSC mark of 95? I know it depends on how hard the test is, but a rough estimate would be appreciated =P

    Concavity..?

Ah, thanks! I'd been very confused, because the second derivative is used to both determine the nature of stationary points AND finding what x values give a concave up/down curve. It's clear now. Thanks everyone!

    Concavity..?

But you use f"(x) > 0 and f"(x) < 0 for testing the nature of stationary points, don't you?

    Concavity..?

So, there's always a part in a question which asks "Find for which values of x is f(x) concave up [or down]" - usually for some cubic curve for Geometrical Applications of Differentiation. I'm not 100% sure how to approach this. I know there's a way to do it graphically, but I'd like to know...

I think a majority of people here finish on the 4th Nov. My timetable has about one exam every two days on average.

    Pen spinning?

There are several tutorials on Youtube, but you won't be able to learn them straight away. The trick is to know how to control your hand, which can take weeks or months to master.

    Pen spinning?

The fact that pen spinning competitions even exist is just amazing. I wonder how big the prize pools are.

    Pen spinning?

I learned a few spins from Youtube years ago, and over time you just develop it because some classes are so boring.. For any young'n's reading this post, do NOT learn how to do them! They're very distracting to yourself and others, and you will develop early carpal tunnel syndrome! As a...

    Pen spinning?

I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty much a chronic pen spinner. I've been doing it ever since Year 9 or so. From pencils to highlighters to rulers, I'll twirl stuff around. Is this bad? Does anyone else have the same problem?

Important advice for all those considering studying engineering next yr

Sorry, but most of us on here don't need warnings. We actually know what our courses offer, and we aren't fooled by the advertised gimmicks fed to us by a plethora of faculties. You were fooled. You payed the price. FYL.

    repeated questions in the HSC

Ah ok. I'm still kinda sure they wouldn't repeat a HSC question word for word.
