Question regarding related materials for english

Obscure materials tend to equate to sophisticated ones, whether HSC markers consciously realise this or not. But Zero Infinite is correcto - don't go using the texts (or even the SORTS of texts) that most people use. Try to choose a sophisticated (i.e. more MATURE) text.

    rank->hsc

Raw internal assessment marks (the ones sent by your school once you complete internal HSC assessments) do two things: 1. Determine ranks (which are then used in the calculation of your final HSC assessment marks) 2. Determine the gaps between the ranks (which are ALSO then used in the...

    Subjects and their scaling.

I'd specialise in 4u math and standard english (if you HAD to. Obviously, try to do well at ALL of them - especially if they are your ONLY units). Achieving a 95+ in 4 unit maths or standard english... tends to be a bit tough though. :)

    Explanation of HSC Marks (Moderating)

Me121 is correcto. Relative differences are EXTREMELEY significant. My friend's marks were adjusted (upwards) from 45 to 48 in HSC assessment, due to this factor. (45 would have been given in the case of a simple mark swap due to ranking). So if you're not first, try to be as close as possible...

Matthew Bellamy is the greatest musician to ever live.

    Extension Is A Bum!

History Extension and Ancient History (for me, personally), seemed to require different sorts of writing / research skills. Maybe in that sense, it makes it more difficult; because even though they're both of the histories, they're very dissimilar. But Hayley.L is correct in saying 'Dont let it...

    ranking

    Ancient History scaling.

Generally, its scaling sucks. So just work harder. :)

    Struggling with Pompeii?

Pompeii is a relatively new topic - only been in the HSC for two years I believe? So don't stress! :) Look to the HSC Specimen exam, and past papers for an understanding of the format - prettypinkheart is right in that, it is all source work. The HSC Exemplars should also help you grasp what a...

    Help with HOLOCAUST

Be careful with this sort of topic, in the sense that you shouldn't neglect the historiographical issues - they should be at the forefront, not as an afterthought to your research on the history topic itself. :) Historiography, Historiography, Historiography! Rog

    ancient hsc notes

For Ancient History, I had around 80 pages of handwritten notes. Dont stress! :D Rog

HSC 2008 ancient history students topics

I used to think doing 3 Egyptian Topics was something unallowed by BOS! But I'm reading through and sooo many people are doing it that way! imo - that would be such an awesome way of doing Ancient History; having three sections overlap like that. :( Lucky buggers LOL!

    Assessment Task Urgent Ancient Greece

I didn't do your particular elective, however, some generic advice: Similar questions will have appeared in some past HSC exam. Find the questions, and find their corresponding marking criteria, as well as corresponding markers' comments, and use them as a guide - to what you should/shouldn't...

  18. L

how many people are doing history extension in your school?

Less people = less competition :) Easier to gain that first rank, and from then on in, it's really all about doing well in the exam.

Should I drop religion? Why/Why not?

I did catholic studies; I didn't want to have to do much work, and our teacher let us have lessons where we continued with HSC relevant work - in other words - Catholic studies was really some very good 3 unit maths study time! :D I guess it depends on how awesome your teacher is - if you know...
