QUESTION: Why does so many people want get into law?

Or at least that's what they think.

    What is my best option?

It's not that brutal to get into top tier ibank as an M&A lawyer with 2-4 years experience. Depends on the market, sometimes they're just dying for people and take anyone. Of course, you'd normally start back as a 2nd year or 3rd year (if lucky) analyst. If you want to do ibank, your best bet is...

    What is my best option?

If you want to break into corporate finance, you can always become a lawyer and do M&A and then move (perhaps laterally) across to finance. Post grad-wise, honestly, no idea because most people who get in in Australia are undergraduates.' If you want to do exciting stuff like...

Law graduates - what are you doing now?

Yep done. Small stuff. Last 18 months is nuts. Looks like a strong spring season too in real estate.

Future prospects for Australian Law students and graduates?

Branch off into other professions? Like being am academic?

  14. O

    Which BCom double major?

Finance and Economics. Rest = waste of time. If you need to learn how to market by studying marketing, you're in big trouble.

High School students interested in Business

Not sure how studying accounting has anything to do with being interested in doing business. Unless you meant doing a Bachelor of Business.
  16. O

    Should i pursue law?

    No But would you listen?
  17. O

Law graduates - what are you doing now?

Did some time in finance. Did very little time in law (less than 5 months). Main source of income lately is ridiculously rising property prices and rising rent. Thinking of retirement next 18 months.
  18. O

    Why is Law so popular?

Because people think lawyers make money, that it opens up career paths, and they are risk-averse. Little do they know. Oh well. They'll learn.
