    Teaching style / Seminars

Each UNSW law subject is held over two classes per week. Each class is two hours long. The class is basically a tutorial of about 30-35 people. We do not have lectures. You are assigned readings to do and we are expected to have gone through these and taken notes prior to class. The basic...

    Law Firm Partner Salaries

Precisely. You have to be very successful and motivated to make partner, and to keep your partnership. Let alone at a top-tier firm. Senior Associate salaries are far more important.

    Assignment - Contract/TPA/SGA

Re: Assignment Q: Contract/TPA/SGA tiki3500, I'd start by looking at sections 71 and 68 of the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth). The former with regard to the implied terms and the latter with regard to the exclusion clause. You may find similar sections in certain state sale of goods legislation.

    Lawyers and Doctors

Yes but that's all very well for Justice Kirby to say. He is a respected and established judge at the pinnacle of the legal profession and he is successful in all sorts of activities and fields, both at home and overseas. For the normal gay person in today's society it would be far more difficult.

    Lawyers and Doctors

Of course, but not at the risk of one's career. True. And in fact the superior attention to detail can actually be a positive trait.

    Lawyers and Doctors

Well that's good A bit of advice though -- I wouldn't go telling everyone about it if you're entering the legal profession. As you say there is still quite a stigma about these things.

    Lawyers and Doctors

I should hope so. One shouldn't turn OCD into something light by waving it around improperly. (DSMIV diagnosis is appropriate before claiming these things.)

Heh Apart from any inherent moral turpitude involved with untruth per se, I am not in the slightest bit insulted by that.

    Law Revue: Hostile Powers

Yes, I have to say the Law Revues are generally top-notch fun. (Even if some of it is occasionally a bit too low brow for my liking.) The political jokes are often good. Well worth seeing.

    High Court Pokemon at USyd

While I would not want to disparage in any way the worth of Kirby's legal opinions, I admire him more for his extra-judicial activities, virtues and inspiring contributions to society rather than for any particular agreement with his decisions. Although I did agree with him on Harriton v...

A Bill of Rights for Australia?

These are my notes on arguments for and against a Bill of Rights from my Public Law classes in 2004. I'm pretty sure I filched them from one of Justice Kirby's speeches. They are however a good summary of the issues and may help in guiding this debate. Arguments Against Against Australian...

hahahaha Well I think it would be a bit too groupie/stalker/embarrassing me going to another Kirby talk so soon, since I asked him to autograph a picture last time.

    NSW Query

The people who deride law students simply for being law students are often just insecure and jealous people. Seriously, grow up.
