    2009 UWS Chatter Thread

Not a lot because I was sick. I went into the exams with HD, D and C averages respectively. The D I got in the end was for statistics, which a lot of people failed. Once you start uni you'll find my marks aren't that awful, compared to those who fail courses again and again. My GPA is in...

Need help with the enrolment process!

Oh cool, good stuff! The psych program has been updated too so a lot of the subjects are new and more in depth...shoot me a pm if you ever have any questions. Are you looking to do an accreditted psych program (major + submajor = 120 points) in order to practice as a psychologist?

    UWS LAW, a few questions

No worries :) Yes, you'd only go to the one workshop (it's like a tutorial). Looks like you only attend one lecture too, and they're not every week, awesome! (check your unit outline when you get it of course to make sure) You're right about the weeks, week 17 will be STUVAC. UWS has this...

    First Year Law at UWS

BA's are only offered at Penrith and Bankstown. In the past, BA/Laws students travelled between Penrith/Bankstown and Parramatta. This might have changed with the introduction of BSc/BA which is at Parra, but I'm not certain...

Are you doing them through UWS? If so, they are free: Bridging programs | University of Western Sydney (UWS)

    UWS LAW, a few questions

Tutorials will either have a roll call, or pass around an attendance sheet you need to sign. In the (few) compulsory lectures I've had, they'd pass around a sheet to sign too, although it may be conducted differently dependent on the course.

Need help with the enrolment process!

OK, sorry!! I just looked up the new BA structure for 2010. Previous BA's had key programs, majors and submajors (key programs are like a concentrated area of study which defines what majors you choose). From 2010, there's no more key program, you just choose a major and submajor. Sorry if I...

    UWS LAW, a few questions

Yes, you pick one lecture, tutorial, workshop, seminar, lab etc. timeslot for each subject. You need to pick one of each type of class. You'll need to register for classes when each school opens for tute reg (16th-19th feb), dates and times for each school are here: Tutorial registration |...

    Question ABout Enrolment

Not sure about unit sets, but I went to my academic advising and it didn't have any info I didn't already know. In my year it wasn't compulsory. If you don't understand your course structure or have any questions, I would recommend it.

    UWS is soo backwards

I guess it depends on the degree. Most of my subjects have online lectures, and if not, lecture notes. But my cohort are complaining that everything is being moved to online formats hahaha. Parra parking is disgusting, I agree. I am lucky to be at Penrith and get parking most of the time...

Need help with the enrolment process!

What degree are you doing? For arts you need to declare your key program immediately.

how do i recieve my timetable? science.

Yep plan the times that you want, then log on ON TIME to select them. I have missed out on timeslots even logging on 2 minutes after tute reg opens. If you miss your time, you can always apply for a tutorial swap (although they'll usually only grant them if you have a subject clash), or keep...

    amf

I don't know about pay but I do know (from friend's experience) that the interviews are pathetic and filled with roleplaying nonsense involving dressing up in costumes and shit like that. No empathsis was put on having good customer service skills or prior experience, it was a complete joke...

    how to accept UWS offer?

Yes you should be able to. I accepted at Macquarie but then withdrew my account when I received my offer for UWS.

    Rules for Customers

Just because one item is a certain price does not mean similar items are the same price. They have price tags on them for a reason. Don't try and argue with me saying that they are the same as the cheaper one, because my awesome product knowledge skills will pwn you and you will be totally...

    Facing unknown competition, tips appreciated!

Do you have any knowledge of Indian foods or spices? This could set you apart if you do. No need to stress out if you don't, but looking up popular terms could help (some people may need help with understanding the menu).
