    Success without tutoring for MX2?

    imo tutoring for 4unit is different from tutoring 2/3u or sciences, you can't teach the train of thought required, only teach them what happens and why it happens unitl they can adopt their train of thought to that level. so no, it's not spoonfeeding really.

    2003 HSC Multiple Choice

    There was a question similar to this in one of the previous threads. The correct answer is B) 6 years. THis is because in the frame of reference of the spaceship, he is 'statoinary' and earth is moving away from him at 0.8c, thus when he views a clock on earth - it would appear to go slower.

    A few complex number questions

    nah i think the vector z would have a greater magnitude but no change in argument (think of 1+i, if it becomes 2+i, the modulus changes)

    crapping urself?

    so what? because i'm young i'm unable to get involved in topics that i have more than an ample amount of knowledge on?

    crapping urself?

    i find it pretty small.

    A few complex number questions

    i'm not 100% sure, but if you think about it. if z = x+iy, it has all the arguments, I don't see an effect of adding 1 to it changing the overall domain of the arguments?

    A few complex number questions

    |w| = sqrt[(x+1)^2 + y^2] when you let w = x+iy argument should be -pi < x < pi as i don't see the +1 having an effect on the overall domains of the argument.

    A few complex number questions

    let z = x+iy k = a+ib where a,x,y and b are real and y and b =/= 0. z+k, we have x+a+i(y+b), but since z+k is real, y+b = 0 and .'. y = -b or b = -y zk = ax + ixb + aiy - yb that is, xb + ay = 0 as zk is real. from y = -b xb - ab = 0 b(x-a) = 0 x-a = 0 x = a Gathering it all...

    Binomial Problems

    There is no constant term here. So 0 ? (3x+ (2/x^2)^9 k = 12->0 ∑ 12Ck (3x)^k*(2x)^-2(12-k) x^0 for a constant term. x^k.x^(-2(12-k) = x^0, equating powers. k-24+2k = 0 3k = 24 k = 8 Plugging k = 8 into 12Ck (3x)^k*(2x)^-2(12-k) we get the constant to be 12C8.(3^8).(2^4)

    Complex number question???

    first of all, its THETA, not theatre. if you're missing an x in the isec@, then use quadratic formula otherwise do what ndependantz said.

    Parabola questions

    12y = x^2 y = x^2/6 dy/dx = 2x/6 = x/3 x = 6 at point(6,3) dy/dx of tangent at given point = 6/3 = 2, but we want normal so dy/dx = -1/2 y - 3 = -1/2 *(x-6) 2y - 6 = -x + 6 2y + x - 12 = 0 since y = x^2/12 sub this into the equation of normal and solve.
