Was anyone else a bit overwhelmed by all that stuff on the chip card implementation?

    I guess it's an OH&S requirement.

Oh, didn't know that thanks. I think it's a bit rude asking to get something reduced, though I must admit i've been known to run over to the bakery/chicken area when I see someone marking stuff down.

What if it is something that probably should be marked down, i.e. a loaf of bread that's best before today/tomorrow. Wouldn't it be better to mark it down a little bit knowing someone's going to buy it then worry about trying to get rid of it?

We've got the same kind of barcodes now at Coles, I've noticed that they also don't scan as quick, you actually have to have the barcode sitting in front of the scanner for a second or two for it to register. I guess it's because the barcodes are sooooooooo long (which coincidentally makes key...

They sound a bit like chino pants, which I wouldn't have a problem with if they're black and still look like business-style trousers. Watch out, the really cheap ones are mostly polyester and can be really uncomfortable in warm weather. That's just good fashion sense.

One of the ladies who used to work in my store before she moved to QLD left for a job at a Woolworths closer to where she lived but ended up coming back to coles after a few weeks.

I would think that specialty staff (i.e. fishmonger, cheese expert) positions would probably only exist in the upper-class / high sales $ stores. I'm really interested to see how the renewal progresses through the smaller stores. Have you heard anything back about your Deli 2IC position yet?

Normally I'm fine with it. But as jirwin said, if I don't have the money, I don't have the money.

Haha yes, today after our CSM and 2IC left we had 1 supervisor/kiosk operator to look after 7 operators.

One of the ladies today had a customer from hell who couldn't accept the fact that cigarettes can't be refunded or exchanged once opened. She told me later she was "this close to slapping her". I'm so glad I don't do the cigarette counter, people can be agro when they haven't had their fix.

In Burnie a business owner called the cops on a girl because she put her McDonald's bag into his business' bin

Are your bins outside? Ours are kept inside in a weird split-level garage-type-thing.

Sorry, I thought you did. My mistake. I think we have something similar but our manager waits until all departments have come to put their rubbish in (within reason)

Isn't launceston at least 2 hours away from Hobart? I might see if Mum will give Homeshop a try, just to see what it's like.

My position is that if you're a regular Coles Group store shopper then it can't hurt to sign up and see if you can get something - just don't change your shopping habits. IMO the Coles Card — currently TAS-only — is a much better offer, and I hope they roll it out nationwide.
