    in my opinion (very humble opinion i must add lol) do a comm/law degree average 75+ in Com average 70+ in law Distinction average at least do other extra curricular stuff The rest is up to you and plenty of luck Don't pin all your hopes on getting into IB - I know what these banks...

    Well I need to fill out the application form, my CV and a copy of my grades at undergrad level I will only be asked to attend an interview if I am a 'borderline' case, that is, if my grades are not up to the mark. Melbourne JD - you have to sit the LSAT and there is no mid year intake...

    oh wow that's great! Good on you I tried to transfer from Melb uni BCom to Monash Uni BCom/LLB in 2005 I had a 78% average across my first year subjects...and I got rejected! >.< Totally set me back Now I have finished my BCom degree (74.3% average), have two years full time work...

    hmmmm...I would have put Melbourne as my first preference Prestige and more international recognition IMO But for a first job right out of Uni, you'll probably want a job in Victoria - so melbourne Uni and Monash are great

    ahh yes you're right but putting your money elsewhere (apart from the bigger 6-8 banks) may conflict with point "3" - being able to get cash at a moments notice...a run on the bank for instance but yea all bank savings are guaranteed by the goverment (up to one million dollars) good luck...

    To all the young guns just getting into their undergrad studies: Please do all the reearch you can on the Investment Banker lifestyle....it is highly glamorous to students - falsely so I would suggest. Itis very intense - financial modelling, meeting clients, presentations, working 16-24...
