    simple maximisation/minisation question

I swear, this does not resemble my pre-HSC handwriting.

    Which universities offer....

USYD's Combined Medicine Program isn't actually undergrad. The program currently offers MBBS in combination with B Arts, B Music Studies, B Medical Science or B Science (Advanced) (a proposal for B Economics is under way, last time I checked). Like most other provisional entry programs, students...

    Mechanic question help

Just a correction: To formally show that the sequence is an AP you need to show that T2 - T1 = T3 - T2 = the common difference. My bad. :shy:

    A curious thought~

They do try to maintain everything as similar to ground conditions as possible, but nothing's spot on. The air pressure within the cabin is still lower than it is on the ground.

    ATTENTION past HSC success people!!

"Your UAI is based on an aggregate of scaled marks in 10 units of UAI courses comprising: - your best two units of English and - your best eight units from the remaining units."

    Mechanic question help

Here you go. Which school do you attend? It seems rather early to be cracking at Mechanics. :hammer:

    A curious thought~

You're forgetting that the package is sealed. So as the air attempts to move out the package expands in volume. The same mass of air takes up greater volume when the pressure is lower.

    scaling

"'According to Terry Lee's solutions I should have got' 120/120." That's exactly what Xin said. ;) Nevertheless, congratulations on pwning us all.

    complex numbers prob

As a hint, think about the relationship between the two roots and an expression that involves them and their moduli. The full solution is attached.

    Umat

It's not necessary to intensively prepare for the UMAT. I didn't attend any preparation courses and I got more than enough to be invited to all the interviews I applied for. In my opinion, the UMAT tests intuitive skills rather than theoretical knowledge. Of course, these skills can be further...

    A curious thought~

The physics people might be the right ones to ask. Nonetheless, it's a simple matter of air pressure. At higher altitudes, the surrounding air has lower pressure than the air inside your standard pack of Red Rock Deli (which was packaged at ground level), so the tendency of air to move from...

    Confused

It is possible to achieve 95+ (indeed even 100) with any combination of subjects. You said "i'm pretty confident with my subject choices but I'm worried that they would be weighted lower than I expected" - which subjects have you chosen? As far as I am aware, most law degrees are offered in...

    UNSW or USYD for Medicine?

Well, I feel obliged to make a response. ;) I haven't had the chance to read everything that's been said by the others, so please excuse me if I start repeating some things. I'll frankly admit that I didn't particularly appreciate being asked "Why do you want to do Adv Maths? Why don't you...

Shush. At least I'm helping. What are you doing? *smacks kony*

Need for another bump? This guy taught me MX2 Conics. I didn't pay him, but you should. :hammer:

    USYD Combined Medicine Interviews

USYD, although it only won my preference by a very small margin.

    USYD Combined Medicine Interviews

It was a bit of both, plus a 10-minute writing task.

    USYD Combined Medicine Interviews

Okay. I spoke with the Dean of Medicine at USYD's high achievers' reception yesterday. Let's officially clarify some of these rumours. 1. Cut-off for interview remains 99.95 UAI for BA or B Med Sc or B Sc (Adv)/MBBS - not sure about B Mus. 2. The intake quota has been pumped up for 2008 (it...
