    2009 UWS Chatter Thread

Aw, is Notre Dame going well though? It's been ok so far, same old haha. Making sure I actually do my assignments in mid semester break this time, you'd think I'd have learned to do so by now...

Is Arabic a hard language to learn?

I have a LOT of people enrolled in Secondary and Primary teaching in my psych classes - probably because of all the educational psychology and developmental psychology subjects. It's definitely applicable to teaching as a major.

    What's TAFE like?

From memory, the youngest person was 16 and the oldest 37. Most people are around the 18 - 22 mark. Class sizes depend on the course and campus, we'd have about 20 people in our largest class which was LALS A (after a lot of people dropped out in the first few weeks...). My TES was 250/300...

    What's TAFE like?

Like humanities? I haven't heard of that one, what's the name of the certificate? I can only think of the graphic and communication arts that I've had mates in, it definitely depends on the workload, type of certificate and the campus. Personally, TAFE was the best time of my life. Made lots...

    The Woolworths Thread

Ahhh, she sounds like my old boss. I rarely call in sick, I just work while sick lol so I'm sure we'll get along (hopefully).

    The Woolworths Thread

You're a legend townie, thank you :). I'm not super desperate for employment as I'm a Sunday manager in a clothes store, but travelling 2 mins for work as opposed to 45 mins for work is very tempting and I'm starting to feel like changing jobs...so I'll wait until external advertising starts...

    The Woolworths Thread

Has anyone heard any info about the new store opening in Glenorie? I've been checking out wowcareers and so far I've only seen jobs offered for trade qualified people...both my sister and I have been checking daily. Finding out info is hard externally, so I'm hoping there's some gossip...

    Myer Group interviews

Have you tried applying for smaller companies? The larger ones are flooded this time of year...I know how you feel, I was unemployed this time last year and it was very stressful. Don't give up though, I was in a shopping centre for 5 mins today and there are signs out there (maybe less than...

    Myer Group interviews

For those who struggle with feature and benefits, my boss gave me this little tip: "Feature tells, benefit sells". So, say for example you were selling a backpack. Feature: the backpack has a padded back and straps. Benefit: padded section can be used for storing delicate goods, is comfortable...

TPC to Uni how and when to apply?

I know that problem all too well. I used to leave notes under their door, then when I got to know them better I'd just rock up at the class they taught haha. Have you enrolled yet? A lot of this info would be given out at infomation days or on enrollment day...

Got a HD in a stats test last week, so stoked! I was 1/3rd of a mark off full marks :).

    5 bonus scheme

Yes, work harder. The worst thing to do is to spend your time worrying about your ATAR when you could be spending time studying and possibly getting better results... Same applies to a uni student worrying about their GPA, just worry about doing assessments to the best of your ability and...

TPC to Uni how and when to apply?

It's best that you do ask a coordinator these questions and others, they'll be able to give up to the minute info and it'll be more in depth... I finished my TPC in 2007, so some of this may be outdated: TPC students apply for uni through UAC, but as a Non-school leaver. Your three highest...

    Weekend jobs

Sometimes small business retailers will employ people only on a Saturday or Sunday, for example my sister only works Sundays. A lot of retailers will want you to do Thursday night trade as well though, but not all of them. Real estate agents also tend to hire receptionists just for the weekend...

My local Woolies opens in October, I can't wait! If I'm hired, expect me in this thread a lot more :P

    Fcuked up big time.?

UWS Hawkesbury may be perceived as being a quiet and relaxed campus, but a lot of the courses out there are science based and require A LOT of contact hours and hard work out of the students. Out of the 4 people I know who studied there, all devoted their waking hours to studying, one being my...

    Fuckin young love...

Do you have any articles you could link us to concerning this?

    Fail Customers

They could also be guiding customers toward using reusable bags as well. My boss has mentioned charging for plastic bags at my work too, I hope I can convince her otherwise.

    Better than UWS?

I did well enough to get into the B. Psych, but I wanted to study humanities as well.

    Better than UWS?

Lol, the way you posted certainly does not paint you as being a university student of any worthwhile calibre. Carry on, then.
