    whos depressed

Same here, I only needed about 60 and I got 72.85. My parents seem thrilled, but I'm not as happy as I should be. I had this number in my head that I wanted to reach, not for any reason in particular, but just so I could show myself that I could get it. But oh well. It's done, there's no point...

    How accurate are SAM/UMAX?

    SAM=69.25 Umax=73.90 Einstein=71.60 There's a big difference between these numbers.....

This is the thread where we go FML

I'm quite happy with my marks, but reading what other people got and seeing them complain about getting 90 or so makes me feel like I should be ashamed of what I got

Marked down for quoting racist slurs and cusswords?

The main thing the markers don't really like about the use of swear words is when kids use them just so they can swear in an essay, but if it is integral to your argument then swearing is fine. Just don't use them because you think it would be cool to write fuck in an essay.

    Diet/Exercise plan?

I'm looking to lose 3 or so kgs of my body fat, and I have been trying to figure out the best way to do so. I have hit a number on the scales that I just don't like and want to make that number disappear for a year or so. So I'm looking for a healthy diet and exercise plan to help me shift those...

    Which is better?

This is mostly aimed at people who have finished the HSC in 2008 and before. I'm wondering whether it is better to go straight into university or tafe following the HSC, or to defer for a year and work instead? Personally, I'm torn and want to know the pros and cons of both. I'm really...

    So many pages

Practise, practise, practise. The more you write to time, the better you will be at it. One example, when I first started year twelve I would write about 4 pages in a 40 minute response, but by the time I sat my HSC exams I found I was writing about 8 pages or more for each response.

Here's mine, minus all my textbooks considering I returned them all after my exams.

Should the basic HSC English courses be changed?

I have never prepared a response in my life. I just get in there and write and generally average 80% or so in most tasks [fingers crossed for those marks or more in hsc]. That includes creative pieces, although I occasionally double up on characters in ext 1 and advanced, just because I have...

Should the basic HSC English courses be changed?

To be honest, I really enjoyed the advanced course, even though my texts were pretty dodge. [bladerunner, skrzynecki, frankenstein, speeches, caesar] And I think that was because I didn't treat it as some major grab for marks or anything like that, and I have never worried about the 40min essay...

    fml

How much do the ranks affect your ATAR? Because, my ranks are shit, but my marks aren't. I.e I'm coming 5/5 in extension one english, but I've never gotten a mark under 75%, and I'm wondering what position that puts me in, considering that there are probably some people out there topping the...

How much money have you spent on your HSC?

I think I spent about $60 on text books, both for maths. About $25 for paper and ink with my major work And probably about $50 for my two drama performances (love op shops) =]

    Phat.

I think I've gained some weight... I'm sitting on around 53kgs at the moment, but to be honest I don't really pay much attention to the scales and I don't recommend anyone cares about them. They're silly things designed to make people feel bad

any1 going nelson bay, port stevens etc for schoolies?

We're going up to Nelson bay from the 24th of nov to the 1st of december, pretty much because 1) it's only an hour away from Newcastle 2) the accommodation is cheap and 3) friends have stayed up there before and have loved it. Nelson bay is just like any town in terms of anti social behaviour...

Are you looking forward to getting your HSC results?

I'm actually really unsure as to how I went in the exams, like, I didn't find any of them really hard but I always end up being the dumb sh*t in class, so I don't know if I truly want them if they're just going to prove that I'm stupid

    Not making it...

I'm intending to work or travel for a while after school anyway, so the course I want to do is at least a year away for me. [besides, it only needs 60] I just want to say, even if you don't get what you want you can still do well in life! My sis completed the HSC 7 years ago, and didn't even...

Thanks for the rep point =] At least you agree with me, I got hammered by some other guy on there.

    Personalities....

Oh yes, I agree fully. I'm trying to understand why they did a question so broad? They probably only wanted the important bits, but what everyone sees as important is different - like I don't really care about Trotsky's childhood but others in my class love it. It just seems silly to compact 60...

SMH article on how shit is HSC English

Thank you ^ I think there needs to be some emphasis on study here, rather than on the wrote essay dilemma. I, as well, am not particularly bright. I have never received an award for excellence in anything, yet all my teachers tell me that I am going to do very well during the HSC. You know why...

Has anyone sat near annoying people?

I sat in front of one boy in my year who kept on jiggling his legs. Now, we sit our exams in our chapel... and it is old. Which means that the floor isn't exactly sturdy anymore, and I'm only little, which meant that for my three hour modern history exam I was bouncing up and down every time he...
