It is based on HSC marks, which is the average of internal and external (to 1 decimal place if necessary). Ties in Extension courses are broken by looking at the student's marks in other courses in the subject area.

Re: Do you need a laptop for uni? Are they necessary? Do you need them? Absolutely not. You don't need one at all and youll find most people still use pen and paper. Some people may find it helpful or prefer typing things. It's a personal preference though and not a necessity.
