I think you've got to be relatively... intelligent to get something like 99.9 but all the while, capable and have a very very decent memory. Sure, there's a correlation between intelligence and ATAR, but at large, as someone's said before, the HSC is largely a memory game + pedantic marking...

Eh, to be honest, 1100-1200 is very good, if the calibre of your writing is up there. It's not how much you write, and I can't emphasise this enough lol.

Wow. I have never hit the 1400 mark from what I know. Lol, today, I took my main trial essay home and it was 1303 exactly. :D

I would say 1100 in 40 mins and 1200 in 50 mins. Of quality writing, of course. :p But for trials recently, I managed 1300 in 45 mins?

Mm thanks. But see, I don't think the 3u exams at my school are very hard, the ranks are very condensed at the top, but at the same time, supposedly my school ranks top 5 in the state every year for math. So if you have a cumulative internal of 95%, then what would you be expecting at the hsc...

While I agree that its quality over quantity, you should really be hitting the 6 page mark from what I gather. That is, you should get at least 1000 words down, usually 1100-1200 words in actual fact.

Well for trials, I managed 1303 carefully placed words in 50 minutes, very relaxedly. :p That was uhmm, nearly 6 pages of my writing.

What about parole? At any rate, I'm kind of revising this train of thought, and asking myself if a convicted murder was imprisoned for life, technically, when he/she was 40, and have served their sentence for say 40 years, when they are 80, should they be given euthanasia, or just released...
