"the naturally smart kids aren't usually the ones who do well in the HSC"

I agree with that statement. The majority of adults I see fit into that category... it somewhat pains me to see that they all recycle the same values and lifestyle, not being satisfied but refusing to see that they imposed their own 'prison' on themselves. It's only worse if they expect the same...

"the naturally smart kids aren't usually the ones who do well in the HSC"

Agreed. I find that I can grasp new concepts very fluidly, but I struggle to rote learn. So actually retaining information is quite difficult .. To address the thread's question: I think to do well in the HSC, you need to study real hard and persevere to get optimal marks. In doing...

New english syllabus for 2009 hsc (New AOS - Belonging)

Yes, that's exactly the point. But I would believe the most important thing to walk into an english exam with is, an opinion, YOUR opinion. And of course, the evidence to support it. :)

New english syllabus for 2009 hsc (New AOS - Belonging)

I'm admittedly excited about this new AOS. It's a change and as people have said prior to my post, we're all on an even playing field. I don't think it was power that was meant to be the AOS, because my school did power last year (in year 10) and now we're covered change (year 11). If there...

What is so good about being a virgin?

I think Palin's daughter had a difficult time answering this question.

Are you only doing physics to get into engineering?

http://www.xkcd.com/435/ The purity scale! I do physics because I like it. Physics > Chem :)

The Dumbest mistake u've ever made in a Maths Exam

My mistake was 11 + 5 = 26 A few of those mistakes, costed me 8% of my 3U half yearly... and I've never had these issues in year 7-10. Why now?! :(

China banned Ugly girl and forced cute girl to Lip Synch

It was low of China to swap the kids. One kind of wonders what the girl in the red dress will think when she's a teenager. The girl with the voice should have been given the honour of singing live at the opening ceremony.

This could solve the obesity problem

Ooh trippy. But I'll vote for exercise! :p

How do you minimise silly errors?

I've been getting the same problem actually. I could score perfectly in year 7-10 and this year, the first 3 unit math exam made me panic to the point that reading the words seemed foreign. My second exam was better but I lost a whole 8% on arithmetic error, e.g. 11+5 = 26 My old math...

What is your all time favourite book?

To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee. Read it 4 times. Followed closely by... Animal Farm/1984 - George Orwell and Goodnight Mr Tom - Michelle Magorian.

Why do you think Physics is so hard?

Lol, I have no idea what to say; it's true! HSC term 4. :)

Why do you think Physics is so hard?

I don't think physics per se is difficult. I enjoy it HOWEVER the exams at my school don't appear to be compatible with me... I don't actually have ranks at the moment etc to give an indication of my performance. The theory isn't difficult, it's effectively logical. So based on the three...

What subjects are you thinking of dropping next yr?

I think he means both extensions, as opposed to just the 4th unit (extension 2 english). Math is a different matter though. Extension 1 math = 2 units, extension 2 math = 2 unit, but I think that was established earlier. :)

What subjects are you thinking of dropping next yr?

Hey, it's cool. To actually address this thread, I think I'll drop Visual Arts even though I can do it, to accomodate for my extensions in english and math. ... even though I don't really like chem but it is a general pre-requisite/recommendation for all science based courses in uni...
