    External/Internal transfers- Does bias exist

if you have a better gpa than someone from that uni wanting to transfer in, theyll probably take you. Just cus you go to the uni doesnt make them lower the entry requirements

    About Monash/campuses

Monash's largest (and major) campus is the one in clayton, and as you said it is pretty far removed from the main suburbia. Its flanked on one side by the princess highway, on another by blackburn road (a major, busy arterial) and on another by the csiro. Its a pretty 'industrial' area however...

    Changing University Pre Req's

Yes they can. However, the universities release plans for there courses about 2 years before the scheduled school leaver intake for that course. ie if you start uni in 2010, then in 2008 the uni's will say for the Bachelor of blah blah you need pre req's x y and z for entry to that course in...

    Massachusetts Institute of Technology

haha yeah i read that book the movie is based on. apparently there are still card counting teams at MIT and also Caltech. but there very hush hush (ie you cant just go around asking about them, as most members are alumni and most students wouldnt even know if one existed)

is my WAM and gpa bad or average or good?

your gpa is a credit your wam is a means your average subject score is 73. I'd say you'd be, more or less, the average uni student with those marks

In need of any sort of assistance

what do you mean by 'urban design?' you could do; architecture town planning civil engineering project management edit: also try searching for companies/organisations you would want to work for, and see what professions they employ people from (especially graduates)

    Engineering/Dentistry

To the op itll be hard but tell your mum to shove it. She doesnt seem to want you to become a dentist for the satisfaction of it, but the perceived "upper class" and "i earn a six figure salary" notion that she can tell her friends about on the weekend. Dont let her guilt you into a career...

    Finding a job after graduation

as a general rule, in this recession its gonna be hard for graduates to find jobs straight out of uni as businesses are looking to hire more experienced workers (5 years + in the industry) and thats even if they are hiring at all. and the companies that still have intake graduate are going to...

    Tutorial attendance... fail?

they'd be pretty hard arsed to fail you if you went to 77% of tutes and got half decent marks, even if the min was 80%. If you think about it logically, if you average a distinction, yet dont go to 80% of the tutes and hence fail the subject, what happens to the people that go to 80% but only...

    Failing Jeopardize Transfer?

slightly. when i tried to transfer into monash they said that "at least a distinction average, and no failed units to have the best opportunity of transferring" on the form. But if you can get a gpa thats 3> then they may overlook the fail.

Confused. a bit. UC to Monash

It would be best to contact Monash directly to make sure that you have fulfilled the prereq's. We can only speculate, but they can guarantee. The credit average means they'll look at your application. To actually be considered look at at least a distinction average. Your GPA (grade point...

    Double degree vs UMelb model

no. a bachelor in eng and a master in eng are exactly the same thing in the case of the melbourne model. both are recognised by engineers australia (the governing body for engineers) and both will lead to a career in your chosen field. More importantly, the 'double degree' of the melbourne...

Credit points for working in Student Govt?

You dont get credit points as its not a subject, or part of the course. Most people do it for the experience, to contribute in some way, make friends, and, the most obvious, it looks good on a resume.

    CHEAPEST way to get textbooks

2nd hand. Ask the lecturer if the new edition is actually needed. Before you jump out and buy the books though, see if you can get by with getting them from the uni library and just photocopying. works for me
