    Finding related texts...

searching through the multitude of texts available, how do u find related material that is both relevant and unique? (i.e. few other people using the same material).

    Searching for related material

i'm in yr11 right now, but i want to get started reading some extra material so that i don't have to spend ages searching for related texts next year. my question is though: how do u find related films/novels/poetry etc? u'd have to have watched stacks of films, read stacks of books and read...

    Quote: "What's a Metaphor?"

well, as u can see the scaling for ext 1 english has steadily declined since 2001, which indicates that the candidature technically isn't "as bright" as it used to be. maybe teachers are just becoming less strict as to who they let in. in my yr11 ext 1 class, there are certainly one or two...

    Change in prescribed texts?

i was just checking out the syllabus and prescribed texts for 2004-2006, and i noticed that the shakespeare for "powerplay" is antony and cleopatra. however, i was looking through a few past examples, and the prescribed text for "powerplay" was julius caesar. i'm probably a bit slow, but...

    probability notes?

u could try year 12 cambridge maths 2U. it explains each scenario in probability quite well, and provides some easier questions as well as more difficult questions for a challenge.

    circle geometry terms.

so IYO, it's not wise to do: Ext 2 English, Ext 2 Maths (minus Ext 1 Maths since I might get rid of it this year), Chemistry, Economics, Business Studies & SOR?? very unlikely that i would do ext 2 english, but ext 2 maths is a 70:30 in favour of trying it....keeping it might be a different...

    simple harmonic motion proof help

actually, expressing it in the form: x"=-n2(x-b) isn't sufficient. u have to write a couple of extra steps: let X=x-b .'. X"=x" .'. X"=-n2X, which is the defining equation for SHM. btw. with x'2, u can write x^2...or even better, write: < sup >2< /sup > to change...

Failing 3 unit Maths: How to Improve?

ditto. surprisingly, maths can be enjoyable sometimes. e.g. last night i did 4 extra questions than what the teacher set for h/w (i do that a lot), but it's mainly coz i enjoy it and i want to keep getting more right answers.

4u maths AND 4u english?? lol....what's the workload like?? right now i'm accelerating 2/3u maths, so if i get both out of the way, technically next year i'll only be doing 10 units which means i could pick up 4u maths and 4u english. i could have the choice of being one of the guys doing 15...

    probability.....yet again.

ur answers r correct. i didn't think of using combinations, coz this was on a 2U paper. for (i) i said: P=12/20 x 11/19 x 10/18 and it came up with the same result. however, for (iii) i said: P=8/20 x 8/19 x 8/18 (which was wrong) coz i thought it was the probability of not being chosen...

    Dan Brown & Dale Brown....

u know from experience?? coz i do business studies and eco. right now. i like both of them and i enjoy maths, so i thought bcomm would be appropriate :)

    2000 Cssa

on that note, does anyone have the solutions for the 1998 CSSA ext 1 paper? the ones in the resource section are 2U solutions. (just like the 2000 paper).

    probability.....yet again.

Twelve students are to be chosen from twenty students of equal ability. Find the probability that: (i) Three particular students A, B and C are chosen. (ii) Students A and B are chosen but student C is not chosen. (iii) None out of students A, B or C are chosen. A:14/285 (iv) At least one of...

    Organising Notes

i would be more inclined to think the opposite... exercise books keep ur work neat and tidy. loose leaf sheets, on the other hand, can tear and fall out. i had a folder with loose sheets for science in yr7 and it was a lot more difficult to find stuff than in an exercise book....only my opinion...

    circle geometry terms.

i like to look at them for curiosity...sometimes i surprise myself when i can actually do one....it's worth a try coz it increases ur confidence when u manage to get one out.

    Organising Notes

hehe. well, whatever works.... for me, it's sheets stuffed into a sleeve at the back of my exercise book. :)

    circle geometry terms.

lol....too right. but then again, they are good practice. i did a couple from the extension section and a couple of them confused the hell outta me. but those ones are good for ext 2 students i guess.
