How about needing to leave a good 30-50m gap depending on speed between myself and the 4wd in front of me so that everyone else (ie oncoming traffic/people turning into or across my lane) can see me.

In short, you lost 6 points total. At the end of the suspension you get 4 back, and won't have to take another break.

If the engine's fuel injected it will adapt.
The only time it's not going to give any gains (and most probably hurt) is if you're feeding it through a carby. 98/100/101 octane doesn't atomise properly when...
