How hard is the final exam for COMP1917?

Was pretty difficult last year, heavily relies on knowledge from the project, if you have Richard he writes exams that have lots of questions centred around the project

    Getting clashes approved?

? Which subjects? Never happened in mech eng for me, or anyone else.

    Importance of WAM?

Tbh thought the link I posted is shit, lemme find a better one EDIT: Found one, here we are http://www.mech.unsw.edu.au/sites/default/files/Calculation-of-WAM.pdf That's faculty of eng though, it's possible that some faculties don't weight like that, so check with your faculty.

    Importance of WAM?

No. Both. https://my.unsw.edu.au/student/academiclife/assessment/WAM.html Can't believe you can't even google search this shit, it's all over the UNSW sites. The WAM is not a straight average, even thought about what WAM stands for? WEIGHTED average mark. Fail the shit out of the first year...

    Importance of WAM?

Of course it's important, most decent companies have a WAM cutoff, i.e if your WAM is lower than the minimum they want, the resume is just automatically binned. With WAM, 2nd year subjects are worth twice as much, 3rd year 3x as much etc, so that's why people often say if you fuck up first year...

Bachelor of Actuarial Studies at UNSW

CO-OP is the co-op program, look it up Honours is an extra year with more prestige, generally available with any degree

Enrolment appointments are based off your degree.

    Scaling

Nothing like high school. I swear there was a thread on this shit a week ago. Scaling isn't something you should concern yourself with at uni, especially not after first year.

    Double degrees

Yeah just heard from someone else that sci minors are gone now too, that's pretty gay, don't know the logic behind that one. Hopefully it's only for 2012 enrolments onwards (i.e older students who have started a minor plan can complete it/get awarded it).

    Double degrees

Hmm, pretty sure science minors are still around aren't they?

    Help with Academic Transcript unsw

Yeah he'll still get the degree, I think - from what I know degrees are awarded ungraded, the only mark related thing on it will be whether you got honours or not, but with a fail this might be different - not that it matters much, with a WAM that low, I really doubt any sane employer would ever...

Free elective!!! Easy and low contact hours

This ^ It sounds really fucking boring + gay though.

    Dropping a subject.

It wouldn't appear at all I think. You would have a financial penalty though.

enrolment appointment for sem 2. sem 2 class times

Rectangles will update on the 27th I think

    Clancy Auditorium - Parking?

Your best bet is probably just to park on the street somewhere in the radius of the uni rather than paying heaps for parking. You can park at the parking stations if you want, not sure how much they cost though, I know on campus parking is around $20/day, so it'll be similar to that I guess.

    MATH1081 and MATH1231

As above, most people take MATH1081 in sem 1 anyway as it's required for their program.

cant see my exam mark for eng1811...

Midsem exams are this week aren't they? You probably just sat the fucking exam, give them time to mark it
  18. TheStallion

will phy1131 lab content be in the final exam ?

Yeah some related stuff may come up, labs are related what you're currently doing in lectures, so it makes sense. Look at the past papers for the final to get an idea of what's in it.

advice on struggling computer engineering student

No, an IPT requires 36UOC to be completed, after one semester the OP will only have completed 24.

    Scaling/Moderating of marks.

I doubt many faculties actually strictly stick to that diagram, it's more of a general sort of thing, heaps of lecturers I know scale in their own ways. Comp courses are a good example.
