i'd say only maths is important in the preliminary because they'd always pop up in the HSC and maybe basic formulaes in the sciences

your hsc assessment mark is not your report mark, ignore them and focus on your ranks why uq med?? you'll be looking at a UMAT score of around 180 combined or 91st percentile (at the rate in which UMAT cut offs are rising)

you said you didn't do as well in your accelerated subjects because of laziness you say you didn't do much past papers for maths (which shows poor time managemen if not laziness) why convince us you'll work harder?

anythings possible with 16 people within a tight 5 mark range - and remember they round of marks to the nearest number to determine ranks i.e. you might have a final mark of 91.6 (rank 2) and the top guy's got 92.4, you'll both get rank 1

i think the pen matters a lot as well try to get one that seamlessly glides on the paper (i.e. gel pens)

not necessarily ... outliers in your school apparently do show in the actual hsc assessment mark e.g. tom gets a raw school mark of 100%, dick gets a raw school mark of 81% and harry gets a raw school mark of 80% in the actual hsc the top three marks are 97, 92, 85 hypothetically...

it depends, for maxima/minima mark they'll prolly give 1 mark for first differentiation 1 mark for testing it using second differentiation to prove minimum point 1 mark for drawing graph (?) or making a statement, "therefore the minimum point is (X,Y)"

my funniest would be this general maths question on calculating the amount of medication sally needed for her sore throat. funny kid miscalculated and answered 1,333,333.33 mL and the teacher wrote in big fat red, "DEAD!!!"

sometimes the teachers just copy the better essays and distribute it to the whole grade ;P
