    ARGHHH!!!!

    Rate the exam

I agree with Xiao...major f%$#k up...epidemiological study, i don't even know if mine was epidemiology based. All wrong for the stupid ambient temp/organism graph...MC wasn't too bad, apart from 5 (we had never done the exp. or even studied it)...ugh! Every other bio exam i have done, my lowest...

    Was it just me...?

I've forgotten which line is which, as in is Line 1 the S-shaped and Line 2 the exponential-type one? I put ectotherm for part 1, and endotherm for parts 2 and 3....i am wrong, yes? Lost like 4 marks or something right there...ugh :(

    Was it just me...?

That's what i want to complain about! Line 1 did not represent, truly and clearly, an endotherm. While, line 2, i guess, was clearer, that body temp of organism rises with ambient temp., the body temp of an endotherm does NOT go up and down like that, unless fever is present...and it WASN'T...

    multiple choice

Yeah, 9 has to be a because it says " How many SEX chromosomes does a normal female inherit from her mother?" Not "how many chromosomes does a normal female inherit from her mother?" But yeah...stupidly worded 13 is put as c...i'm probably wrong. And hey, why is 5 d? I put c...both flasks...

    Was it just me...?

Yeah, but their responses are to move out of the heat, etc. Whereas, an endotherm's responses are more physiological/structural/behavioural. So the exponential-like curve was the endotherm, and the S-shaped curve was the ectotherm?...wish i could see the paper...bloody making it question/answer...

    Was it just me...?

i had endotherm as organism 1 then changed it....ahh crap. Also, the 3rd part, where it asked about Org. 2's response to temp. change greater than W...that kind of convinced me they were talking about an endotherm there...??? Is that sound logic, or not?
  8. A

    Was it just me...?

Am i completely dubm, or did other people have trouble reading the ambient temp/organism response graph? I couldn't make out which was an endotherm because NEITHER line represented one! Line 1's temp moved about a lot, so it could've been an ectotherm, but the ambient temp wasn't alternating...

help! is anorexia a nutritional deficiency disease?

Well, in the Excel book anorexia and bulimia are listed as nutrirional diseases: "Nutritionnal deficiencies resulting from anorexia and bulimia can be fatal" So, i assume you could use it as that.

DNA and Protein, are they the same?

Every group of three bases, the codon, codes for an amino acid. Hence the DNA becomes translated into an enzyme that promotes a particular reaction in the cell. Each of these reaction causes an effect in the organism, for example, the production of the skin pigment. The control of protein...

    Methodology Used in Cloning?

if you have either 'Biology in Context, or the Excel study guide, 2 different processes are in those. Let me know if you want me to paste them for you on here.

    fuck that was easy

Yeah Alexander, quite probably that's the case...never count on the BOS to actually be fair or nice. But, with the questions being, well, rather general, not really calling on any degree of major detail, it may be an attempt to separate those who can recall general stuff from those who can...

    WW1 (Core)

Did anyone else find they needed to go onto another booklet for both b and c? I can't figure how we were meant to fit a complete answer in those 2 pages. Like for differing experiences, i didn't even mention trench foot, etc. I focussed on the German having superior trenches, the Allies having...

    fuck that was easy

Yeah, i know. My russia question was one we did an assessment task on, and the Pacific question..well to be truthful, i only learnt the day before, so it was in my head. And the Source WWI questions..gosh, i never thought they'd make an exam so easy, especially modern. I am VERY glad.

Is Modern anyone elses last exam?

No! It's my 3rd (well 4th if i had done Ancient), and i have 3 to go after it!

    RUSSIA- groups

I think obviously you would write about how, under the Tsars the Okhrana was the secret police. Then, you would refer to the Cheka, the Communists' secret police. Then link the two showing how the totalitarian/authoritarian state had not really been changed. There had merely been a change in the...

IMPORTANT: illness/misadventure: how is the exam mark decided?

Some of my classmates have sms-ed me, and said they actually thought the exam was good, not too hard...so that's good. Thanx for clearing that up for me, am about to head off to the dr. to get my medical cert.

IMPORTANT: illness/misadventure: how is the exam mark decided?

Ok, thatnkyou...got me very scared there for a moment.

IMPORTANT: illness/misadventure: how is the exam mark decided?

Or do they only refuse misadventure cases, like say where someone can't get to an exam, or something along those lines? It is pretty slack to refuse someone's medical certificate, if a doctor thinks they are sick enough to have not been able to do the exam, then the bloody BOS people should, too!
  20. A

IMPORTANT: illness/misadventure: how is the exam mark decided?

Why can they do that? I don't understand...on what grounds would they refuse it? Like, is there a particular level of sickness? I have an EAS form outlining my illness, and my principal is going to explain to the supervisors that my illness has been present for all of my exams so far (only the 2...
