    IT (Information Technology) in Medicine

Sup again, more questions... :chainsaw: My family Dr did med some 25 years ago, and back then, the most technologically advanced equipment most med students had access to was a photocopier. All information came from notes taken at lectures and textbooks. This brings me to my question...

    Speed Reading for UMAT

Thanks inasero, this course looks AWESOME. like I said earlier, I believe the reason someone gets a question wrong is a combination of several factors, not just if they are 'smart enough'. -amount it time it takes to read and understand the ques -amount of time it takes to logically...

    Speed Reading for UMAT

I agree some people, given an hour, will still answer a question incorrectly. Most will however read it, read it again and choose the right answer. Also 4U Maths?? I assume this is another forum. (sorry i'm from QLD, we have Maths B, Maths C and no student forum)

What is this in reference to?? Either: they will know that I haven't done extra-curriculum or: They don't really care about what anyone's CV says??

    Speed Reading for UMAT

I have read a few posts (not on this forum) by year 12 leavers who have sat UMAT, and they said one of the biggest issues is that they didn't have enough time to properly read and thus answer all questions. Most of these year 12's said that a speed reading course would have improved...

    entry

I go to a small school (500 students), and being well known can sometimes not be so wonderful. everyone knows everything about you, and if you do something "wrong" (light stuff on fire, full school water fights (to put fire out of course) ect........................) everybody, especially the...

    James Cook uni UnderGrad Medicine

So basically, to get in JCU Med, - i have to have a OP 1 (TER/ENTER >99), - live in a rural area, - consider myself to be a rural kid, - have an interest in tropical medicine, - have an interest in Aboriginal Health, - actually want to live in stinking hot and...

    James Cook uni UnderGrad Medicine

I knew someone would grill me for that last post. :o Sorry Lexi, just blame my lack of life experience :D And i agree, i do have a lot to learn. However: Isn't their a much better chance (approx. 1 in 1.2 - 1.7) of getting into Graduate compared to 1 in >5 for under grad? (I do...

    Year 12 Results Conversion

thanks heaps. Just for interest, does a difference in UAI/ENTER/TER of .95 (between 99 and 99.95) really matter in med, is it that competitive? or at that level do UMAT and interview performance count more?

    Year 12 Results Conversion

Hi everyone, 'smee again. More QLD related issues (sorry). Each state has its own version of year 12 results which are all convertible/comparible. - Vic uses the ENTER - NSW uses the UAI - SA, TAS, WA use the TER Queensland, just be be annoying, uses the OP - (a...

    James Cook uni UnderGrad Medicine

Thanks guys. Yes I have considered grad entry, but only as a backup plan. This is mainly because grad is 1 year longer, and under grad seems much harder to get into; there must be a reason eg. its better/more popular/shorter. Of course I don't know these things, but I figure that its better to...

    James Cook uni UnderGrad Medicine

Hi all. I'm in year 11 on the Gold Coast, (studying my butt off to hopefully get into med) As a queenslander, there are very few options when it comes to studying under-grad med in my state. UQ and Griffith are graduate, Bond is good if your rich, leaving James Cook. Despite much leg...
