Who thinks that the 2011 cohort is the 'experiment year'?

I just finished my HSC, I've had a school-issued Macbook since Year 9. Jelly?

How do they moderate our raw marks...

Your raw marks get moderated to a 'Total Weighted Mark', (TWM) which factors in varying option questions or different prescribed texts. So, for example, it may factor in that for Chemistry, a 16/25 for Shipwrecks may be equivalent to a 19/25 in Industrial Chemistry (this is just an example)...

    Estimate someth1ng's ATAR!

~95 or so, very hard to tell as most people don't work through year 11 so it's not really a good time to be predicting.

    List of Pracs

Yeah, would be, but there's alot of 'weird' pracs that they can technically ask for, but never have and never will. Just stuff that helps with other dot points. I mean the main ones, like finding g from a pendulum and other ones that they commonly test.

    List of Pracs

Anyone got a list of the pracs we need to remember for the course?

    Can scaling save me here?

Don't put your raw marks straight into the calculator. Raw marks are aligned for each subject based on its difficulty and whatnot, and then averaged with your Assessment Mark. For example, if you scored 80/100 in Legal Studies in the HSC, that may align to an 88.

    90.00 Possible??

Ancient won't count, but I think you can do it. Anywhere between 88-92, tbh.

    Judge my estimate.

You have to take into account your Assessment Mark.

    Estimate

    Ranks are in signature, estimated raws are below: Advanced English - 75/105 Chemistry - 70/100 MX1 - 52/84 MX2 - 67/120 Physics - 70/100 SOR won't count. I guarantee it. School rank = ~130s

Another - Raw mark, scaled, hsc mark thing...

Sup, I made it. It's purely on the exams. It doesn't factor in the student's internal performance; merely their external. In the database, you'll see in 2009, a student received 76/100 for Modern History, which aligned to an 82. That was their exam mark.

    Multiple Choice

    17/20.
  12. B

would it be safe to assume 83 raw is a band in external

Yes. Low 70's raw is usually band 6.

    Band 6 Cut-off

It doesn't matter how you found it, it matters on how the state as a whole found it. Already, most of the comments from people on here seem to be stating its hard; last year's Chemistry HSC was determined to be 'hard' and had a band six cutoff of ~72, so I'm estimating something similar for this...
  15. B

    Raw mark of 30?

    Too high, mid 50's is a band 5 for chemistry. Band 4 Cutoff - ~42 Band 5 Cutoff - ~53 Band 6 Cutoff - ~72 My guesses.
  16. B

    General Thoughts: Chemistry

    ~53.

    Multiple Choice

18 was A, I think. There's a few others I got different in there, too...

    Raw mark of 30?

    No. I'm estimating ~63.
