    Biology vs. Economics

What is this, a trial? Why is there a precedent that says 'if a person writes about a subject based on external information and advice, he shall be attacked'?

    Biology vs. Economics

I will now delete my horrible advice. I spoke about economics/business studies as I have experienced them during my study of SC commerce. There was never any distinction between business and economics in the course. Mrs H (AP and economics/social science teacher) gave me the impression that...

English-literacy: 88 Mathematics: 86 Science: 85 Geography: 84 History: 86 Computing Skills: 91 The grades on my Record of Achievement don't match the grades in my final Year 10 school report. Did that happen to you? I believe that the Board plays with SC test marks and grades AND HSC marks.

Choose between Chemistry, Physics and Economics.

You sound jaded. Year 11 is a part of the HSC. You have to do Year 11 to do Year 12.

What aligned HSC marks do I need to achieve to receive an ATAR >95?

I need someone to clarify this for me. In UAC's scaling report, in the A3 table, is the 'HSC Mark' they refer to the aligned HSC mark which students receive from the Board? Alec, students do not receive their scaled marks. They receive aligned HSC marks. A reported mark of 97 on your HSC Record...

Choose between Chemistry, Physics and Economics.

I did read it. My original comment was meant to be read as 'you only do 11 units in year 11'. I didn't write 'year 11' because I wrote 'do' which is a present tense word so I could not have meant 'you will do 11 units' (as I did not write 'will'). I could say the same thing (learn to read) to you.

What aligned HSC marks do I need to achieve to receive an ATAR >95?

You're in the same situation! Go us! Look at my category A subjects. In 2009: 98% in Biology gave 99.8% scaled. 99% in English gave 100% scaled. 99% in Legal Studies gave 100% scaled. 100% in Mathematics did not scale down. 98% in Italian Continuers gave 100% scaled. 98% in Studies of Religion I...

You do 13 units. I counted MX1 as 1 unit only.

Choose between Chemistry, Physics and Economics.

You only do 11 units according to your signature. Did you do accelerated study? I would choose physics. The core chemistry module titles do not grab my attention like the biology, physics and senior science module titles do. I've looked at chemistry textbooks too and the content appears dull...

What aligned HSC marks do I need to achieve to receive an ATAR >95?

What aligned HSC marks in my subjects do I need to get to achieve an ATAR of 95? In your answer please do not assume that a certain subject will not be counted. Give HSC marks (the average of the moderated assessment mark and aligned external HSC exam mark) for each subject assuming that any...

    ATAR aim.

Yes, 85.00 is possible with those subjects. Biology, Chemistry and English generally scale well. Work consistently throughout the HSC year and if you do your best you will probably achieve an ATAR >85.

Thank you for your advice. I'm going to (hopefully successfully) attempt to borrow New Senior Mathematics 3 Unit Course from the library tomorrow. I would like to see what the kids in the extension class have been doing and judge how difficult it (their first topic) is. If I can't find it...

Does anyone know how PDHPE scales?

Generally is the key word here. Note that I have not used the word 'always' in the following sentence. PDHPE generally scales better than Ancient History. I was going to do PDHPE but I finally chose to study the law instead. Legal Studies generally scales better than PDHPE. My category A...

I'm aiming for a band 6. What do you recommend? Should I supplement MIF's weak points with questions from past papers? Or would a better solution be to regularly refer to Fitzpatrick's New Senior Mathematics: 2 Unit Course?

That's true. The books would, perhaps, be enhanced by the contribution of a second author. A brief biography of Margaret Grove does not appear in the books. This is a common feature in many textbooks, and normally the authors' credentials are mentioned. One may have achieved a Bachelor of...

    Regretting or Hating any subjects?

I shall withdraw some comments I made then. My life would be enriched if there was an actual 'delete' button one could use to remove one's offensive and presumptuous comments from others' memories.
