Marriage - really the 'best fit'?

Amen to that. Please inform Theist. That daft little fella can't take a trick.

Universities should take responsibility for builiding ethical and moral character

This understanding and reflection is only possible though once people have actually been through the 18-21 period in their life. I do agree with you though. It's sobering to reflect back upon my last 5 years and track how I have developed through experiences.

    International Students targetted for robberies

What's that, you want to walk to macca's?

    Atheism!

:( So he stabbed a guy, and didn't go to jail for it? Do the crime, pay the time. That's ridiculous. I was affiliated with a decent church that Dean Waters goes to. Interesting chap, extremely sad story. Only in his circumstances, should the need for a custodial sentence be removed.

    Atheism!

The "4 L's Philosophy" (Sounds pretty gay, but actually seems to address things pretty nicely): Live: Living your life rather than just existing, taking opportunities when they're presented. Love: Loving what you do and finding passion in things, having convictions in your actions. Learn...

    International Students targetted for robberies

Apparently what happened in one of the cases in that between the uni and Jesmond, a bus was driving past and saw that there was somebody that was surrounded by about 4 others who were trying to pull away his bag. Bus slowed down heaps, and the kids fled. The other guy in the other case wasn't...

Universities should take responsibility for builiding ethical and moral character

Exactly. We can learn a lot from systems in place in Singapore/Switzerland that provide empowerment and a chance to mature through National Service programs after students finish their High School studies. I'm not looking for some sunshine, lollipops and rainbows utopian here but I do think it...

    Accomodation at Newcastle

Re: On Campus housing Applications I have a tonne of mates that are from Tamworth, and they got in with no problems. Unless you're an International, then you don't necessarily increase your chances by living further away. There's no sure-formula to getting accepted on college, other than...

Universities should take responsibility for builiding ethical and moral character

At least you guys don't have to contend with the swarms of mosquitoes in Summer months.

Wait, what was that (Tulipa's stance)?

What course has the highest average pay to graduates?

Agreed. Those that say university education sets you up for creativity and innovation in business are young and naive. I'd say that the key to building a successful business is not so much having booksmarts, but rather it's employing people that are smarter than you. Richard Pratt agrees. He...

    Atheism!

I guess everybody needs to believe in something. Whether that there is a God or that we only answer to ourselves. Just don't preach it to me, i'll find it myself, amongst good company. The sad thing is that throughout history it has never been enough just to accept that somebody else may have...

    What's it like doing commerce/economics?

Generally, across both degrees you'll find that they are structured something like this: 1st Year: - Homework is Assessed - Technically based Assignments (journal entries/technical interpretations) - Presentations (exploring concepts) - Mid Semester Tests (multi-choice, short answer) - Final...

    co-op

I am saying that using logic, no, you wouldn't be. If you are doing a B.Commerce or B.Accounting which are required to be done during the Co-Op, these degrees already have the required Accounting subjects structured into a single Accounting Major. You obviously need to be taking Accounting as...

    co-op

As long as you are doing a B.Commerce or B.Accounting, companies offering Co-Op Programs (ie. UTS/UNSW) don't care about what majors you choose for your degree. Nor should they. They'll want you to have the required Accounting knowledge, but outside of that it's totally up to you. Ultimately...

What course has the highest average pay to graduates?

Well if you really want to know, managers at the top of their level in the field that i'm going to be working in can expect 200k (more on large scale projects). The manager that i'll be working under for example, was head hunted about 9 months ago from the UK. He's 32. Not yet at the top, but...

What course has the highest average pay to graduates?

I'll be fetching $70k when I start in a grad program next year. That's after 4 years and a B.Commerce. Doesn't seem as though Dentistry has much shine to it's salary these days.
