    Geometrical Applications of Calculus

    Sorry, I should have checked earlier, but the textbook has a different answer to what you've got there. According to it, the first derivative is; (20x2 - 120x - 1)/(4x2 + 1)4 And the second derivative is; [-8(60x3 - 420x2 - 9x + 15)]/(4x2 + 1)5

Stuck on the second. EDIT: Nope, still can't get it right.

Could you go through your working please? I need to figure out where I was making the mistake.

    Geometrical Applications of Calculus

Oh man, another thread... Oh well. :o So, here's my problem; Find the first and second derivatives of (5 - x)/(4x2 + 1)2 Pretty simple, although I must be making a mistake in my working somewhere... Can anyone help?

    Exponential and Logarithmic Functions

Ugh... I'm having a bad time with these questions. Here's another one; Find the area enclosed between the curve y = ln x, the y-axis and the lines y = 1 and y = 3.

    Exponential and Logarithmic Functions

    Oooooooooooooooh... I can't believe I didn't think of that! Thanks a heap! :)

    Exponential and Logarithmic Functions

No worrys, thanks anyway. :) EDIT: Oh, and BTW, I'm stuck on the next problem too. I'll add it to the opening post.

    Exponential and Logarithmic Functions

Damn, I hate it when I get stuck on a question that should be incredibly simple. Can someone quickly help me out of this? Here's the question; If log72 = 0.36 and log73 = 0.56, find the value of log714 and the value of log73.5.

    Intergration

Oh... I see what my mistake was now. Thanks. :)

    Intergration

For some strange reason, I just can't seem to get the answer to these integration problems. It's the fact that they should be incredibly simple that's worrying; I must be making an obvious mistake without realising it. Could someone help me out by going through them with me? Number one; Find...

    Trigonometric Values

Thanks very much... Oh, and one quick question while I'm here; would cos22x be equal to 1/2(1 - cos4x)?

    Trigonometric Values

My problem is that I'm having some trouble differentiating the function. Could somebody walk me through the problem, please?

    Trigonometric Values

    Stuck once again. Here we go; Given that y = e-x(cos2x + sin2x), show that y'' + 2y' + 5y = 0

    Mathematical Induction

Don't worry, I can decypher it. Thanks. :)

    Mathematical Induction

Whoops, made a mistake. I've corrected it now. Sorry guys...

    Mathematical Induction

This question should be pretty straight forward, but I've gone through it like five times and I just can't seem to get the right solution. Could someone walk me through it so I can see what I'm doing wrong? Here's the question; Prove, by mathematical induction, that 2/(1 x 3) + 2/(3 x 5) + 2/(5...
