    Trigonometric Values

You guys have been awesome so far, lets see if we can keep up the record with one more problem; a) Write down an expression for sin 3x in terms of sin x. b) Hence find 0∫pi/6 sin3x dx.

    Trigonometric Values

Bingo! Could I have a look at your working please? I'm really stuck on this one.

    Trigonometric Values

I thought I had this problem figured, but my answer is way off. I don't suppose someone could walk me through this one too? Evaluate 0∫4√3 dt / (16 + t2)3/2 using the substitution t = 4tanӨ.

    Trigonometric Values

Yup, that's correct. Thanks muchly. :)

    Trigonometric Values

    Here we go again; Evaluate 50∫(25 - x2)1/2 dx using the substitution x = 5 sin u.

    Trigonometric Values

    Awesome, thanks. :)

    Trigonometric Values

Gots me some more problems of the mathematical kind. Lets see who can dig me out of this hole; Find ∫e tan x sec2x dx using the substitution u = tan x

    Geometric Series and Loan Repayments

    Got it, thanks.

    Geometric Series and Loan Repayments

Hmm... I've run in to problems with a similar question... Could someone run this one past me as well? Here it is; A store offers a hire-purchase loan on a lounge suite costing $5000. If you pay $200 deposit, the loan on the balance is paid over 3 years, at 18.5% p.a. interest. You do not have...

    Geometric Series and Loan Repayments

Ack! I figured out why I couldn't get the answer for the question! For some bizzare reason I was calculating the interest at 12% p.a., not 18%... Man, I feel so stupid right now... Thanks for your help Trebla!

    Geometric Series and Loan Repayments

I could never really get my head around these problems in class, and now I'm stuck on one the questions in my textbook... I was hoping someone here could help me out by going through the question step-by-step. Here's the question; A farmer borrows $50000 for farm machinery at 18% p.a. over 5...

    Trigonometric Values

Speaking of which... I've got me another problem; Find the equation of the tangent to the curve y = sin(pi - x) at the point (pi/6, 1/2), in exact form. I'm fairly familiar with this type of question, but I'm a little shaky on exactly how to differentiate equation, and exactly how the result...

    Trigonometric Values

Thanks guys, it makes more sense now. And I'll keep that in mind, me121, in case I have any further questions. Thanks. :)

    Trigonometric Values

I've got yet another maths problem that I'm stuck on. Lets see if you guys can help me out of this one, although I'm sure it's a pretty simple question. Here it is; Find the derivative of 3 cos^3 5x And that's not cos to the power of 35x, if anyone was wondering.

Quadratic Equations: The Problem with Roots

    Damn, stuck again. Here's the problem; Solve 2^(2x +1) - 5 x 2^x + 2 = 0 I can see it's an equation reducible to a quadratic, the problem is the form it's in...

Quadratic Equations: The Problem with Roots

Yes! Thank you very very much! I've been puzzling over that first question for ages! EDIT: Got the second one too. Pretty easy once you think about it, I was just being lazy. :)

Quadratic Equations: The Problem with Roots

I gots me a question that I just can't seem to solve. I was hoping someone here could help me out by explaining it to me. So here it is; Find the value of n for which the equation (n + 2)x^2 + 3x - 5 = 0 has one root triple the other. EDIT: And another one; Find the values of p for which x^2...

    Intergration Using Substitution

    I made the same mistake the first time I tried to answer the question. The intergral isn't ∫(x + 2)/[√(x + 2)] dx, it's ∫(x - 2)/[√(x + 2)] dx. Sorry. ;)

    Intergration Using Substitution

I've got the basics of 'Intergration Using Substitution' down, but I'm having some trouble with the more complex questions. I was hoping someone might be able to go through one of the questions step-by-step so that I can understand it better. So here's the question; By using the substitution...

    Developing an idea...

I've been fairly lapse on preparing for my major project, and now with the beginning of the 2008 school year I'm beginning to pay for it. Though I am in need of an idea, I'm not expecting anyone else to come up with one for me. What I am interested in is how other people have come up with their...
