    Well you don't "need" all of them, it is just a lot easier to pass with them. Actually, the case study book isn't really that necessary you can find all the cases online.

    If you have chem, bio, mathematics extension, and advanced English you are covered for most University degrees recommended/assumed knowledge.

    Physics would be more helpful for your future then engineering studies, and from the sounds of it, you are talented in that area. Advanced English is 2 units (and makes up your compulsory units of English), and extension English is a different subject worth one unit. Might be worth trying...

    How does your school typically perform in both subjects? Lots of people find economics really boring/hard when I did it, so you will find people not enjoying both subjects.

    Economics doesn't actually have 'hard mathematics" a decent Standard Mathematics student is likely to be able to cope.
