Macbook Pro vs Macbook Air for University

Air. Unless you need specialised software or lots of power to run your programs, then go Air. It's lighter, more portable, cheaper, etc... If you can wait though, I'd hold out as rumours suggest a new Macbook Air will be out this month. That being said the current Macbook Air shape has remained...

    Internships or Part-time employment

You'll never become technically trained working as an intern but it's about gaining an experience in a company or industry which you otherwise wouldn't be able to get access to. Someone who is employed on a full or part time basis is essentially working for their salary because the output they...

What laptop and hard drive should I get?

Yes. You need proof of being a student. The discounts are same as the prices you get from online Apple store educational price. I think discount can range from 3% to 8% and it depends on what you're buying. Some newly launched devices tend not to have discounts available though. Like I said...

    Making Money vs Work experience

Assuming it's in a proper retail store where you get training, development, etc... and it's well organised/etc then that's far better for development. You can always make more money in the future but getting the job might be harder without work experience.

What laptop and hard drive should I get?

Applies to most Apple products actually- you can get it from Apple Store or the education store online. But IMO the discounts on laptops/computers is better if you get it at 10% off at Dick Smith sales or JB Hifi.

What laptop and hard drive should I get?

Depends what you're used to and what you're comparing it with. Back when I was in uni I was commuting from the Hills district to UNSW so having a smaller lighter laptop was great. I never found the 11" screen to be an issue compared to my netbook's 9". But it depends on what you plan to use it...

What laptop and hard drive should I get?

For what it's worth also be mindful of this rumour. http://iphone.appleinsider.com/articles/15/02/10/apple-gearing-up-for-early-2015-macbook-air-refresh-begins-pruning-inventory IMO there are a lot of factors to consider in how you intend to use device and whether you have other computers with...

What laptop and hard drive should I get?

Depends on what degree you're doing and whether you want it for laptop use or tablet use. I think the Surface Pro 3 is one of those devices which looks and sounds amazing, but you need to really think whether or not it will work with your lifestyle. Back to Op re tablet, don't forget you can...

    How to take notes faster?

Use the syllabus to guide you into what the key point is. I wouldn't recommend using someone else's notes in isolation because part of the benefit is from you having to read something in someone else's words is to think about it, process it, and articulate it in your own way.

    Worst thing about university?

I'd say the worst thing about university (but also the best depending on perspective) is that being a good student alone isn't enough to do well in university and get a great job. More specifically it's not like high school where the correlation was very clear between studies, assessments, exam...

What car do you drive? (the new one)

I end up using the public transport system for the most part here as it's pretty convenient except when I need to carry something- in which case I just take taxis since they're so cheap (especially relative to buying a car myself). It shocks me that they have so many nice cars on the road here...

So what are you guys playing at the moment?

I actually didn't realise it was available on the iPad... lol. It seems okay on PS4 but it surprises me that the framerate is a bit jittery on a PS4 during the cutscenes (presumably these are rendered in real time using the Unreal engine).

So what are you guys playing at the moment?

I like the minimal amount of thinking required to play though. I'm playing the PS4 version since it was free on PS Plus at some point (I don't remember paying for it). Story is a bit "eh?" but it's fun button mashing goodness. Maybe will try on Vita later.

    Windows 8.1 on tablets

After using this tablet for a few weeks and finding a few issues (maybe because it was cheaply made and can't stay on properly?) I regret not just buying either a Surface Pro 3 (which would've only cost about $1000 relative to my $550) or a cheaper Android tablet. Sigh. At least I can play UT...

    Double Major

Do things which you're interested in. At the end of the day it's not like you'll learn anything technical which would be recognised as an academic qualification but it might help spur your interest in a particular topic. If you're thinking about it from a role/experience perspective (which I...

So what are you guys playing at the moment?

I was watching a video of that the other day in the stores and damn it looks epic. But sigh I realise I'm officially a casual gamer. I play more freemium games on my iPhone than anything proper :( Hello candy crush soda.
