188kW at the wheel presumably? Not bad!

Sold my iPad 3 16gb wifi a couple of days ago... ... and bought a nice iPad 3 64gb 3g :) :) :) :) :) woo for not running out of storage and having access to internet everywhere.

    making up case study

As long as you keep it realistic- e.g. a local fish and chip shop is unlikely to have aging debtors or a high P/E ratio lol.

    youtube/google maps axed from ios6

Sad to see the old trusted Youtube app disappear but hey if Google produces a better one then I'm all for it. As for maps, well, there were some serious limitations as anyone who has tried travelling with an iPod/iPhone but without data will know. Thankfully there is Offmaps which also is...

    Business Studies specimen question

From a strictly technical perspective that's an extremely poorly worded question/example- but agreed with the above approach that it's the sum of the net cashflows for each period (i.e. cash sales less cash expenses) which should come to $200 as Op pointed out.

    making up case study

Easier to just use a real business- if it helps, try to find one in an industry you are genuinely interested in (e.g. Apple if you like technology companies, Toyota if you like cars, etc) as it'll make it much easier to remember details which are relevant to syllabus dot points.

    Financial ratios in business exam

That being said, if you can't prove that you know how to calculate something, how can you truly understand the idea/purpose/application of a ratio? Besides, it's not hard to memorise the ratios and realistically their names are quite self explanatory and knowing it prepares you for the real...

    Financial ratios in business exam

Agreed with where you are coming from but typically you don't get many marks from calculating the ratio but rather the bigger marks are in understanding and applying said ratios.

Why do people look down on UTS business so much?

I'd be inclined to think the former... but I don't work in finance.

    investment banking

I'd only caveat that post with the current state of financial services, the expectation of a bonus in that range has definitely fallen. From speaking with a few mates around the place, the bonuses in Sydney are closer to the 10%-30% range and not in the 50%-100% range where they used to be (for...

    investment banking

I haven't done IB as I work in accounting but I've worked numerous 120 hour weeks before (I work with IBers on deals). Everyone says they can handle the hard work and they're willing to forego a social life, etc... Try studying for your HSC without doing any non-studying related activities...

Case study for...? (I'm guessing business studies? If so, I'll move your thread).

    Financial ratios in business exam

I'd put the effort in to learn them. The names aren't that ambiguous!

    What is your financial status?

So glad I paid off HECS. Actually was quite a good feeling. And I paid it off using my credit card to get the QANTAS points lol. (and yes I paid the credit card off immediately)

Why do people look down on UTS business so much?

I think something which Newbie should emphasise is he is from the finance/IB world where it's far more competitive and every little thing matters. I'm from accounting/professional services. As an interviewer, I don't focus too heavily on this aspect because I tend to look for who would fit...

    FOREX trading - some questions

Minimum trade is $100k physical. Lately I've moved all my funds back into pure AUD cash as no time to monitor markets and equities are uncertain. Seriously though, sheer volume makes even a 10c profit (on equities) that much more worthwhile.
