    What have you eaten today?

Agreed. Good looking food on the net makes me want to go try it. Today I had risotto from Janus in Darling Quarter. Not bad but at $16 it wasn't that great either.

    PWC - Traineeship for 2014

On the plus side, practice makes perfect. I bungled up my first ever interview back in the day!

    CADETSHIPS 2012 Discussion Thread

I've decided to start posting a few tips for interviews if people are having them. 1. Do not say you read the newspaper everyday- because the interviewer will ask you to talk about a current issue and why it's important/relevant. 2. When asked "Why are you interested in <firm name>?", have an...

    CADETSHIPS 2012 Discussion Thread

Only caveat to the above I'd say is different firms structure the remuneration packages slightly differently- e.g. one firm might offer you a simple additional amount payable in cash for say a textbook allowance whilst another might reimburse you based on receipts. I've also heard of a large...

Varies by firm I'd say. Keep in mind you'll still need to get into a CA-eligible course though and agreed with the firm or the contract rescinds.

    What have you eaten today?

Well we did make it twice- because we only got the bill at the end. I suppose given the wine was more than 10x that, the San Pellegrino wasn't that bad. Could've sworn I saw it for $1.20 a bottle at the local fruitshop though.

Personality tests are rarely used to cull people (at least in accounting) given how subjective they are; but rather it helps shape and steer the interviewer.

Watch the water though. It's $12 a bottle. But the mushrooms are a must have.

    2012 BMW 3 Series F30

After thinking about it, I think even with the new 3 series, I would still pick my Benz. BMWs are cool/trendy/modern/sporty, but not classy.

    What have you eaten today?

Unfortunately I never learn. This isn't the first time I have made the mistake of ordering chips only to find.... four. Really gotta remember to order fries next time. That being said, 400g+ of meat is enough to fill the tummy.

    What have you eaten today?

Had a nice work lunch at Prime Steak Restaurant. Ordered the sirloin with a side of house cut chips (I regret not getting shoestring fries... whereby I would've gotten a lot more) with a side of mushrooms. It was delicious.

i think they should just be honest and say what you really want. the reality is the person interviewing you probably went through similar thought processes back in the day and can connect with that.

    PWC - Traineeship for 2014

LOL I don't mind. It's all over the internet anyway and the questions are pretty obvious (or at least they were to me).

Bill of exchange vs. Letter of Credit

I saw this thread a while ago and purposely didn't respond because I'm not 100 sure. My understanding was the key difference was something to do with the risks related to endorsement and who had the right to make claim to who and whether there was default risk/recourse.

CA Program - Ask questions, get answers! (new and improved)

Apparently each group has to present on a topic allocated to them in the FS. There should be info in the guidance/introduction to CA or at the start of the CLP. This was introduced after I finished all my technical modules so can't really comment but I heard people do get pretty well prepared...

CA Program - Ask questions, get answers! (new and improved)

LOL I was trying to avoid answering this as it could pose a conflict of interest :) In short it's a post-graduate qualification which has been recognised by the industry and is administered/run by the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia. There are respective/corresponding authorities...
