    Mathematics Notes Survey.

The odd mathematical joke would be a good addition :P.

    Mathematics Notes Survey.

A collection of features I would consider important in a set of HS notes: -Divided into small and logical sections. -Each section ending with a collection of questions on the material covered in that section, ordered in roughly ascending order of difficulty and with past HSC questions...

    Chess thread

Re: Chess thread? Thanks man, likewise. I actually meet a fair few people with similar interests to me through uni, but outside of that its pretty rare.

    Chess thread

Re: Chess thread? Ah right, that makes some sense. Very happy to hear that you read this sort of stuff out of interest though (I guess it is a fairly painful area to read if you aren't interested!), too many people confine themselves to their field and don't ever bother to expand their mind...

Re: Chess thread? I take it you study some kind of mathematics at uni?

    Chess thread

Re: Chess thread? Analytic number theory is one of my favourite areas of mathematics and something I may return to one day. Topology is interesting in that it sort of underpins much of analysis, I don't know any particularly advanced topology though beyond a one semester grad course in...

    Chess thread

Re: Chess thread? Pretty unlikely. Am not a huge fan of applied mathematics in general, but nothing is impossible...my tastes may change over time. Right now most of my work is in abstract harmonic analysis, some of it being remotely of interest to quantum physicists. That's the nearest thing...

Re: Chess thread? Academia if I am good enough mate. Wouldn't have started one if I didn't intend to go that route :).

    Combinatorial geometry question.

Well the girls are willing to kill for the chance of being with Chad, so I think its reasonable to assume they would say yes upon being asked out.

    limits ?

Perhaps the easiest way to convince yourself of this is by expanding the LHS using your compound angle formulae for sin. I recommend getting a good feel for the symmetry properties of the trig functions though, personally I just visualise the unit circle.

    limits ?

    Use that sin(pi-x)=sin(x).

    Combinatorial geometry question.

Nope, all shots are simultaneous. (And lol).

    Combinatorial geometry question.

Ten of Chad O Dude's top crushes are in a large field armed with one shot pistols. Each pair of girls is separated by a distinct distance. Each girl shoots the closest girl to her in an attempt to eliminate the competition. What is the largest number of women Chad can end up with?

    HSC 2013 MX2 Marathon (archive)

Re: HSC 2013 4U Marathon Cbb checking haha but that is the correct idea. As an addendum to your question, which I think I have asked before: Prove that E has NO real roots if n is even.

    HSC 2013 MX2 Marathon (archive)

Re: HSC 2013 4U Marathon Straightforward exercise to flex algebra muscles: Find a polynomial with integer coefficients that has: \left(\frac{3}{5}\right)^{1/6}+\left(\frac{5}{3}\right)^{1/6} as one of its roots.

    Differentiate pi^3

You lose a lot of low-level control by using Lyx.
