I think it's quite sad really. When I am old and balding I would rather catch a bus than give off the image that I am trying to look young by buying a sportscar.

It's a fair call though. I mean it isn't like you MUST drive a turbo car, and if your family only happens to have high performance vehicles, then one of them should subsidise you because after all, you are the one who benefits. Why should we as taxpayers subsidise the costs and risks of allowing...

LOL happens every year. I remember back in 05 it even couldn't be loaded at all during HSC exams! I was heartbroken and all alone *gasp*!

Who's Attila? But in all seriousness what is the point in racing someone on the street? Usually you can tell if you can snap them or if they're likely to snap you. If it's close to call, can't you just accept that whoever were to hypothetically win would be the one who was most ignorant both...

I'm pretty sure it was using radar guns... but anyway, if you are bothered I'm pretty sure I read it in the NRMA magazine about a year or so ago. Yes I do read it because we pay for it in our insurance premiums and there's nothing else better to read whilst eating snacks.

That's been my thought reasoning on the subject. Although I remember reading in an interview with a police (don't quote me on this) that they always take into account the circumstances and environmental surroundings of the offence... and the example was inclination of the road.

Whilst I disagree with some points raised (e.g. an RX-8 is not a superfast car... well not from the factory), but there is a bit of discrimination due to the blanket bans (e.g. R32 vs. GTI golf). I don't think it is an intentional act but rather just an unfortunate consequence which was not...

    Fuel Consumption

I complained to my local Caltex yesterday... out of the 8 or so pumps they have, the 4 which have 98 were full up. The rest only had 91 ethanol or 95. If they want people to move on up to the higher grade stuff, make it more available and don't make me sit in a queue to get it. Yes I'm a whinger.

    What do you guys think?

In summary Lotus cars are lightweight bodies with ordinary engines. On a kW/tonne basis, they are far superior to their engine donor cars (i.e. Corollas and the like). Basically they are fast in the twisties because of the excellent handling and benefits of a lightweight setup, but in a straight...

    What do you guys think?

From memory aren't all Porsches on the prohibited list by default (for NSW)? I'm inclined to think that the Exige isn't such a bad car though in terms of 'hons' because it's limited in seats, extra human weight dulls performance exponentially and unless you know how to drive it properly, it's...

    Most ANNOYING things when Driving

I always hope that people do this on Cleveland St on the way to UNSW from the city... but some sucker always lets people in. :( I'm too gutless to put my car where my mouth is purely because if there's any kind of accident, repair work never restores cars to their original condition and it's...

    Most ANNOYING things when Driving

LOL that annoys me too. I bet they are locals and know fully well there is always parked cars in that lane. But that being said, after driving in Malaysia where people turn gaps into lanes and it's free for all... Sydney ain't so bad.

    Most ANNOYING things when Driving

Agreed. It's like WTF common courtesy to let the two lanes merge in traffic but some still insist on inching forward to prevent you from coming in. Also applies when trying to change lanes in general... I mean really, indicator is flashing. Either stay at current sped, slow down, or if you're...

What car will you get as your first car?

From what I've read the MPS actually is quite fast and can give most cars a run for their money.. only thing I heard was bad (in the old MPS 3 at least) was the lack of traction/grip. That being said, I still think the smiling with a bullet hole in the head look is not to my fancy lol.

    What do you guys think?

I'm not going to deny that hoons will always be hoons but I still reckon giving any new driver without sufficient experience the temptation to drive a car which will elevate their driving ego (such as the Evo/STi's mentioned above) is only going to ask for trouble. Cars can't really defy physics...

    speeding lols

I've compared actual speedo with both GPS units and RSM (it's a device which takes the speed signal from the ECU without 'adjusting' it) and I found that my car's speedo was usually slightly optimistic (60km/h per speedo was about 56km/h actual; 110km/h was about 100km/h actual).

    What do you guys think?

Very much agreed that they shouldn't punish everyone for the minority's mistakes... but the real risk here however is the danger of people behind the wheel. Sure putting kids in a car which isn't prohibited isn't going to guarantee the saving of lives, but at least it removes an element of the...
