    What do you guys think?

You raise very fair and valid points in your argument but simply put, have you driven any such performance vehicles? And if so, was it a one-off or on a regular basis? You probably have so then I ask, did you not in any way feel tempted to 'exploit' the vehicle capabilities even though you were...

    What do you guys think?

So you don't think there's anything dangerous or wrong with new drivers taking to the streets in an STi, Evo or GTR from day 1? Yes this is generalising and stereotyping but if it saves lives then so be it. Depends what cars you're talking about and what you've experienced I suppose.

    What do you guys think?

Agreed about power to weight ratio restrictions. Truth be told though, when you're a P Plater you feel that the restrictions are stupid and pointless but once you're on your fulls and start really driving hard in a car which was previously prohibited, it doesn't take long to figure out why they...

    What do you guys think?

I thought we were trying to demonstrate some of the reasons why new drivers are restricted from more powerful cars...? Either way, I still found the cars startling the first time I moved up from my 1.3L Terios. Heck even the 1.8L Corolla was a huge step up! True, the gearboxes do make a lot...

    What do you guys think?

Keep this thread in context- we're talking about New P Platers and I'm thinking back to my own experiences.

    What do you guys think?

What do you think of DBW/FBW then? Both my cars (in Australia) have it and whilst it's not the same as a normal car, I've grown accustomed to it. My mate installed the e-throttle controller into his car and whilst it feels faster I don't know if it's necessarily a good thing. It's difficult...

    Etags

Damn... if the technology is there to read plates, why do we need e-tags?! And it was more for my run from the parents house in the hills through the M2, LCT and Bridge back to my office.

    What do you guys think?

Congrats on naming where Drive by Wire came from. And before you ask yes I have tried using e-throttle controllers in a few cars but am not convinced they are worthwhile.

    What do you guys think?

I greatly simplified my point for the sake of argument here but basically I was getting at the throttle lag in general (excuse my lack of use of proper terminology). Naturally as you put your foot down, you are expecting something, but then when nothing happens you put it down a bit harder...

What car will you get as your first car?

^ LOL my gf agrees the facelifted 2 looks considerably lightyears ahead of the previous one. As for the new 3, I don't know where I stand on it. It's a bit too futuristic/aggressive/exciting for such a mainstream car but then I guess that is the point of differentation from the Corollas and...

What car will you get as your first car?

Honestly speaking the RX-8 is a beautiful car but the new facelift looks way too tryhard... especially when the car doesn't have the grunt to match the exterior. I suppose that's what makes it the ideal P-plate car though.

    What do you guys think?

It's really only useful for overtaking (especially up hills and when you have people in the car), and changing lanes especially when people don't want to let you in and start accelerating hard the moment they see you flick your indicator on. I don't like gunning it at the lights but when you...

What car will you get as your first car?

RX8 is a good car if you have $$ and are learning to drive. It's nice and easy to drive, not too fast, reasonably safe and also quite practical, and has good looks for a P plater car.

    What do you guys think?

Truth be told that until you have driven a car with serious power you won't know what you're missing out on. I used to think my Civic 1.8L was friggin fast lol.. ... but that being said, power and speed isn't everything especially for young drivers. If you are driving something which makes...

    Etags

I think we've got different situations here.. I meant I have one RTA etag with the plates for both saved into the RTA system, but I use one car alot more than the other. Do I need a 2nd tag?

    Etags

Oh it costs money to use it? Stuff that then lol I'll just transfer the Etag when I need it.

    Etags

Nice video. Are you serious? I heard that was the case with the automatic plate recognition but wasn't 100% sure. So this means I don't need to bother swapping my etags between my cars? Sweet.

girls getting tased for doing automotive

I also thought it was 'tased' :( Anyway, depends why you are doing it- do it because you want to learn and are interested; not to prove a point. I have to admit some chicks do know their stuff and it's always nice to see some ladies at car meets especially if they have genuine automotive knowledge.

    Forza Motorsport 3

Meh I'm really loving Forza 3 atm. Awesome game to play.

    Etags

Good analogy there. As for monthly fee, AFAIK RTA does not charge one but other etag providers might. I am surprised none of the toll road operators have started promotions along the lines of regular users of their tollroads getting discounts or something... *shrugs* Thought it seemed obvious.
