Is sex with someone who is intoxicated rape/sexual assault?

A man is a rape-supporter if… He has ever sexually engaged with any woman while she was underage, drunk, high, physically restrained, unconscious, or subjected to psychological, physical, economic, or emotional coercion. He defends the current legal definition of rape and/or opposes...

    Risk Management in Banking/Finance

Judging by most of your posts you seem like someone that attempted an actuarial degree but couldn't cope and now you have all this pent up rage you need to expel on BOS. Also why don't you understand that you can do an actuarial degree without becoming an actuary? I've known many people that...

    Risk Management in Banking/Finance

I find it funny how everyone automatically assumes actuarial = insurance and nothing else. An actuarial degree would put you on good footing to eventually become a CRO or some other form of risk management role especially as enterprise risk management becomes more mainstream.

Maths 1A and maths 1A advanced

I suggest you do math132 and math133 (the advanced ones) regardless.

CURRENT ACTUARIAL STUDENTS!!...Tell me about the course

4th year actuarial student here. 1st year isn't too difficult.. if you keep up to date with the workload and attend most lectures/tutorials you can easily get d's and hd's (especially considering most of the subjects aren't specific to actuarial - econ, stat, accg, etc). there isn't much...

what is a good combination among these commerce majors?

Re: do UNSW commerce people look down on Macq commerce people (honestly)?? It's okay though because macq actuaries look down on unsw actuaries :P

Mathematical content in the Bachelor of Applied Finance

You can still doing ACST306 if you're a dedicated student, you just need to be very strong with your math and stat. Most of the hard stochastic processes stuff is put into ACST307 anyways :)

How much maths in actuarial studies?

If you want to be a quant you probably want to start with a pure maths degree and just become educated in programming/finance in your spare time. Mark Joshi's website will provide some insight: http://www.markjoshi.com/ You need to be really smart and hardworking if you want to succeed in a...

    Actuarial Studies

Imo you should do a double with something that isn't finance (maths, stat, eco etc). A lot of the finance subjects are just watered down versions of the stuff you cover in actuarial studies (investments etc). Actuarial studies is definitely challenging, the first few semesters aren't really that...

    Macquarie University 'Merit Scholars Program'

3rd year macquarie actuarial student here. I can vouch for the quality of the actuarial staff at macquarie, lecturers like David Pitt and Leonie Tickle are amazingly intelligent and really do inspire you to learn. It's always funny to see how much emphasis people put on where they want to study...

what jobs does actuarial studies lead me to in commerce UNSW?

Not everyone that does an actuarial studies degree becomes in actuary, most just do it so they can show employers they have strong quantitative skills. Lots of employers value good mathematical ability so there's plenty of demand for actuaries in all areas of finance whether it be management...

Bachelor of Applied Finance with the degree of Bachelor of Actuarial Studies

You can do a bcomm and major in actuarial studies and finance at unsw if you want to. Personally I think you are better off combining actuarial studies with something other than finance (economics, computer science, statistics?) as most of what you study in finance is already covered under the...

Is it true that UTS business school is absolutely crap?

Ehh typical elitist BoS user who thinks high uai/atar entrances correlate to a 'better' degree. I'm pretty sure there is plenty of 'high level finance' taught in degrees like Quant Finance at UTS and Actuarial Studies at macq.

Does the uni you get your Commerce degree from affect your employment prospects?

Lol at everyone quoting the good uni guide like it's the bible. Also you might find this interesting: ' According to the Good Universities Guide to Australian universities, starting salaries for Macquarie graduates have been ranked as the highest in Australia for ten consecutive years...

    B Sc (Advanced Mathematics)

Most employers don't really care what degree you do as long as you have done well in it. Doing a pure maths degree can lead to great career prospects as it proves you can think quantitatively. Mathematicians can work in such a wide variety of fields. Also pure maths has plenty of applications...
