YAY for standard! Dad say's I could do better than standard, pfft.

Thank goodness my English teacher 'loves' Moodle and posts up any work we do, assignments we get and a whole range of bits and pieces which might be helpful up. So from looking at what's written up, I now know what texts we're studying . . .

~UNIT ONE - Module C - Texts and Society
Elective - "Into the World" Set Text - Billy Elliot (film)

~UNIT TWO - Area of Study
BELONGING "The Simple Gift" Steven Herrick (poetry)

~UNIT THREE - MODULE A "Experience Through Language"
Elective One - Distinctive Voices
"Pygmalion" Bernard Shaw (dramatic text)

~UNIT FOUR - MODULE B "Close Study of Text"
"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time"
Mark Haddon (Prose fiction)

And for Extension 1 we're doing After The Bomb and our texts are:
Waiting For Godot
Hiroshima
The Spy Who Came in From the Cold

Yup.

Area of Study is the concept(s) common to standard and advanced i.e. this year is the concept of 'belonging'. Modules differ in standard and advanced i.e. are different topics e.g. standard do close study of text while advanced do critical study of text.

Each course consists of:
- Area of Study: 40%
- Module A: 20%
- Module B: 20%
- Module C: 20%

Paper 1 is solely the area of study i.e. belonging --> same exam for advanced and standard.

Paper 2 is modules --> different exam for advanced and standard.

Im doin extension and advanced!! arr im finding the advanced course a little hard!! i cant find any material on the internet for belonging!! anyone got a good definition?? :p

We are currently studying the Immigrant Chronicles by Peter Skrzynecki for the advanced course. any1 got any ideas on how belonging is illustrated through these texts? Especially in 'Feliks Skrzynecki' and 'St Patricks College'. I can only see the dis-belonging in these texts :p
haha
thanks :D

Area of Study: Belonging

The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan (i adore this book)

Comparative Study
Shakespeare: Richard the Third vs. Finding Richard

Close Study
A dolls house (play)

History & Memory
Levertov Poetry

I think i prolly got the last section wrong LOL, sounds kinda weird! I forgot which module's which!

In extension 1 we are doing crime writing so i don't know yet. I hate crime. Prelim's gothic was so much better and fun! Right now we're doing Sherlock Holmes -_- so boring LOL!

I did Frankenstein in the WACE Syllabus this year, and it was really good study. The reading of it was complex, (I actually didn't finish) but it was really easy to write on.
oh really?
good to hear haha.
