Are there any decent alternatives to voting for Liberal or Labor?
You should vote for the Australian Greens first and put Labor second. Moreover, you should vote Labor in the Senate. Stop the boats we must. Stop the boats we will; Vote Labor.

I really don't give a fuck about the "boats" because I am pretty sure they would make up a small percentage of "illegal immigrants" considering the ones who overstay their visa etc. The whole "boat" debate seems to be designed to divide society in order to gain votes and isn't a worthwhile topic to even touch on compared to something like the economy and especially education. The greens have always had an affiliation with Labor so no, and the liberals seem shit as well who would probably make the same choices Labor has. This duo-monopolistic state of politics is terrible because it is just a battle to get into power and not for the good of the people. Like fuck, with the way things are turning into Clive Palmer is looking pretty good lawl. I feel that bringing more parties into the spotlight could probably be the best choice in the long run.

coalition announced refugee policy:
Coalition policy
Reintroduce temporary protection visas, which were issued to people classified as refugees and allowed them to live and work in Australia for up to 3 years. They are then required to reapply for successive visas for the right to stay, with permission depending on conditions in their homeland.
"Boost" offshore processing.
Turn back the boats, "where it is safe to do so".
Operation Sovereign Borders, announced on July 25, 2013, led by a military commander with a three star ranking, who reports directly to the Immigration Minister. It is aimed at "streamlining" decision-making on border security into a single command structure.
Operation Sovereign Borders will be directed by a joint agency taskforce, involving all agencies who are involved in border security.
In first 100 days of a Coalition government, Operation Sovereign Borders will establish a headquarters and create a joint agency taskforce; finalise and issue protocols for operation to turn back boats; increase capacity at offshore processing centres; lease and deploy additional boats to relieve patrol vessels.
The Coalition has indicated it may keep some elements of Labor's new PNG policy, but has not specified which aspects.

Scared and scarred, federal Coalition have zero chance of winning this federal election.
Tony Abbott is tired, out of puff and is a spent force. How had it come to this? A man who had dominated Aust politics since early 2011-2013. Tony Abbott who was on the cusp of winning one of the biggest landslide victories in modern federal political history is now conceding defeat. Joe Hockey admits that the public is deeply, madly and truly in love with Kevin Rudd. Many on the Coalition side of politics have real expectations that Labor could still be in government for ten more years. Joe Hockey has confided to some journalists that the Abbott Opposition has lost its way and is presenting himself as the only person who can take on the dominant Kevin Rudd. Joe Hockey says under Tony Abbott the Opposition is dysfunctional, chaotic and paralysed. Tony Abbott who almost became one of the most effective Opposition Leaders in Australian political history is dead, buried and cremated. The aspirational King is dead long live the aspirational King. Kevin Rudd is the greatest political thinker and doer in Australian political history. I expect Kevin Rudd to at least overtake John Howard to became Australia's second longest serving PM. Politics is not just about policy it is also about inspiration. Kevin Rudd is a very inspirational leader.
