NAH THAT SUCKKSSSS

last term I had repetitive strain injury to both my wrists because of music so I can definitely relate, although luckily I don't do many essay subjects (STEM kid here)
I emailed the provisions people at my school and they allowed me to wear a compression sock/tubular bandage for my exams for one term, but said if the issues persisted I would have to formally apply through NESA
I really recommend tubular bandages - some people in my school wear wrist braces but my wrists are too skinny for those to be of use, tubular bandages/compression socks feel amazing
I also went to my GP and got anti-inflammatory tablets and painkillers prescribed just in case I wanted to take them before an exam

and my best bit of advice...
rest!! (if its not in the middle of an exam of course)
after my exam block I didn't do much fast writing and if I felt pain I immediately stopped, now I rarely get pain <3

I wish you a very speedy recovery !!

Edit: never tried gel wrist pads, plz tell if they're good

I've been seeing an Occupational Therapist for basically all of high school, cuz ive got really bad hand problems

do laptops/keyboards hurt just as much? if not then see if u can work with the school to apply for laptop provs because for me, it was a gamechanger 😭

keyboards are definitely hurting just as much. i've got a compression sleeve and it's working really well at the moment, so i'm now in the process of sorting provs for that.... getting evaluated for carpal tunnel too since it started tingling

HI ITS ME AGAIN
gel wrist pads arrived today they are a GAMECHANGER. super soft and comfortable and so much pressure off my wrists its mindblowing!! could not recommend more if you use a keyboard or laptop often

i picked up a compression sleeve as well and it's seriously amazing thank you so much for your advice. gp appointment on thursday and i'm gonna try and get checked for carpal tunnel given my thumb and index fingers have been tingling all day. thank you again for this i appreciate it so much!!!

Oohhhhh I might invest in some gel wrist pads then for the future teehee

I'm glad the compression sleeve helps!! hopefully you don't have carpal (it's a painful one)...although if that's your diagnosis I think NESA would allow some provisions ;)
