i can probably do 150-200, but havnt gone to gym in aaaages, and dont have a leg press in backyard

plus ur like 22cm taller than me, so it makes sense if u can lift more than me.

thats my excuse and im sticking to it.

actually i am right, until i get an explanation, im right.
on second thoughts, you probably are right.

however, using a barbell ensures a much smoother motion, whereas for a beginner, dumbells can be all over the shop.

smooth motion yes, but with both arms involved, ESPECIALLY with machines, you will most likely apply a greater force with your stronger arm, resulting in an uneven workout.

thats why beginners need someone to spot them.

yeh, but if you work out with dumbells, and you don't bring them up and lower them in the exact same way for both arms, it can have the exact same effect as using a barbell.

give yourself 2 day gap then.

after a month or so when ur used to it, or when u dont get tired as easily, reduce it back to 1 day gap.

i guess in that sense u need to be a bit more experienced with weights, and definately need a spotter.

also, you work out almost all the muscles on ur arms just by maintaining balance of the weights.

Imagine doing chest press with two 17.5kg weights in each hand, holding them at arms length above your face can get daunting, especially fucking doing it in the backyard with the wind blowing, fucking hate it when a fly comes near me, ahahaha.

for dumbell chest press (bench press?) i can do double what you do. and im a pussy. PUSSY!

also, quit your stupid little debate. rotate between dumbell and barbell "chest press" and you wont have any problems.

i don't know man, i'm gonna stick with a barbell. trust me omar, your form when working out with a barbell would be much better than your form using two dumbells.
