When two absolute values are being delt with, it's best not to use the sqaure method.

Here is the sqaure method:

RHS
=5- |3t-1|
= 25 - 10|3t-1| + [9t^2 - 6t +1] <---- squared
Hence combining LHS with RHS

t^2 + 4t+4 < 9t^2 -6t+26 -10|3t-1|
10|3t-1| < 8t^2 - 10t + 22
|3t-1| < 8t^2/10 - 10t/10 +22/10

Imaging solving that. Lol and you have to solve the negative part too.

Don't worry about the Lagrange interpolation lol. It's only to raise awareness of alternative methods. The other alternative method within the scope of the HSC syllabus is suppose the parabola takes the form y = k(x - a)² + h and then also solve three simultaneous equations for k, a and h.

Srsly? This is like late year 10/early year 11 stuff. You should be way past this.
Yea, we did Parabola in Year 10, somewhere near the start, but haven't touched it since. It's coming up some time this year, but I wouldn't have a clue how to answer that question.

Haha my school is so mediocre that we haven't even touched on the topic of Parabolas. Yup, we suck x[

No idea how to do that question so I shall linger around and wait for someone to answer >;]
