Someth1ng, for year 12 you will get both Physics in Context and Physics Contexts
For chemistry you will get conquering chemistry
And for 4 unit maths you will get foundations of 4 units maths (patel)
Did you go to PHS?

Physics in Context - Oxford one I think is pretty bad. Can't understand a thing unless I really, really put my mind in to decipher it.
Jacaranda - I think it is good.
Conquering Chemistry - The Year 11 is good, not sure about the Year 12 one.

Chem - Jacaranda
Bio - Bio in Focus (all my friends use it)
3U maths - Fitzpatrick
2U maths - The new version of the excel 2U maths book (it is soooooooo good and was the only book I used leading up to 2U HSC)

Chemistry: Conquering Chemistry
MX1: Cambridge
2U: Don't need one if you have a 3U textbook

What about the Chemistry and Biology books? We have the biology one's at school and they seem very thin.

Chem - Jacaranda
How does this compare with Conquering Chemistry Edition 3?

Also, is it okay to use the Jacaranda Physics Edition 2 rather than the Edition 3?

Also, for Physics, is the Jacaranda Edition 2 fine to use? ie it was published in 2003. Did the syllabus change since then?

3rd edition is more colourful (Physics) and it presents some corrections in errors in the 2nd edition.

Can you give one or two examples of "corrections in errors" that were made?

It's only minor, I think they corrected about two answers to a few questions. I personally like the 3rd edition better as it is more colourful and pleasant to look at. It also comes with thinner paper and looks slimmer. But it's no different in terms of content with the second edition. Also I would highly recommend Physics in Focus.

In my opinion textbooks are a personally choice to which one you like but from what numerous other people have said for

Physics - jacaranda not 100% sure on what edition is better. the 3rd corrects the mistakes in the second. My school gives us the second.

Chem - conquering chem.

Bio - Biology in focus is said to be one of the best.

Jacaranda for both Physics and Chemistry in my opinion.

At the end of the day - it's not the textbook, it's the student.

Personally, I do partly disagree with this. I believe that if you have a poor teacher like me, one that doesn't teach by the syllabus but rather teaches everything that's outside the syllabus or overcomplicates everything, then a good textbook is very important and it is also important to get one that is clear and concise. However on the other hand, it is the student's duty to study (in which I do) and frequently have family members quiz me directly from Conquering Chemistry to know what I have or have not covered. I have a textbook by Oxford called "Physics in Context" and it is full of blatant mistakes and is rather confusing to read.
