Hey,

What exactly is the "Initial Moderated Assessment Mark"?

Is that the 'raw mark' that the School gives to BoS?

If so, I thought you couldn't send in "decimal places" numbers (i.e. they had to be rounded off to nearest whole number) and I saw some decimal places in the first page.

When schools send off the marks do they round it off to the nearest whole number or keep it in decimal form?

The reason why I ask is because I'm not sure if you beat someone else on decimal places (i.e. by less than 0.5), but the rounded number is the same - does the school send equal ranks OR differentiate you based on the decimal place?

Cheers

*Edit: Just found the definition in the thread:
Initial Moderated Assessment Mark - This is your raw school assessment mark after it has undergone a moderating procedure to make it comparable with marks from other schools. It is also on the same scale as the total weighted mark.

My question is still - does this this raw assessment mark have to be rounded off to nearest whole (thus would have many equal rankings) or should it be left in decimal (to haveless equal rankings) or is it totally upto the school's preference?

Hey guys,

What would happen if i got 87 in my internal assessment (inside word) and that was rank 6. i think i will get that as my alligned internal aswell.

Now in yesterdays physics, i didnt go to well. If i was to get around 60-65 as a raw mark. what would i get as a scaled mark and overal my final HSC mark in physics?

Sorry to bump this, but has there been any updates on any appeals going to the BOS? They are under law supposed to keep records for seven years - are any old-timers that expressed interest before still wanting their marks back?

/Has anyone got their raw marks since the decision in Jan 2005 I wouldn't mind taking it to the AAT because I know that howevermuch "integrity" has been breached by getting our marks back, they are still our own and I believe the Freedom of Information Act 1982 would agree with me.

well i only know of one recent attempt, which was by hugh parsonage. the most recent thing i have on this is a SMH article and and ADT report, which doesn't really go into the matter at hand.

on the other hand, i recently made a request. 1st time they partially granted my application (raw marks part was not granted). then i requested an internal review (their stance did not change, all that they did was generate several pages of explanation). after that i did not pursue with the ADT or ombusman. the time period of ADT has not expired. quite frankly i have better things to do than to start a legal battle.

somehow i think that rather than individuals requesting their raw marks. someone just request all the band cut offs for all courses for all years. from this they can calculate anyones raw mark. but again, somethink like this takes a long time, and effort. (and legal knowledge)

can't someone just hire a lawyer and win the case, so current and future year 12s will have an excellent resource of what is exactly needed to achieve their goals, think about the of thousands of students that would benefit from these raw marks.

For Maths I reckon 90/120 is a Band 6.

Though I may be wrong.
yep for 2007 that would have been too (http://community.boredofstudies.org...4/2007-raw-marks-maths-2u-3u.html#post3259715)

According to JUAI 2004 your UAI is 98.30 not 99.40. Maybe the Board of Studies ripped you off.
All of these UAI predictors would have some inaccuracies. UAC only publishes the data for a few intervals, we have to guess what happens in between.

So the "Total Weighted Mark" is the raw mark for the external exam?

And the "Initial Moderated Assessment Mark" is the initial internal mark, adjusted to a certain scale?

So are the final two, the "Aligned Exam/Assessment Marks", the final marks that you receive with your HSC results?

This continues to confuse me.
