Unsure on whether I'll go a skinny tie or one I can use again for work. The shoes I am wearing will be Gaziano and Girling Fairmont in black. Why all the hate on DB suits?

Also, every picture I am seeing from people at their formals....the suits are too long. Jackets should just make it past the end of the wrist bone and pants should just touch the top of your shoes (if you're not wearing boots) when standing. My formal is costing me around $2500 - $1500 for suit, $600 shoes, $300 shirt and $100 tie. However, I love all things fashion and I do not mind spending this much as it doubles up with work anyway.
if you're spending that much on a suit I sure hope it's bespoke

Well... Not quite.
Got more boobs than that. :p
The corset will give my top half more shape.
But the dress will be shorter and like fitting to my body. [black satin bit]
Then the train will kinda ruffle[?] short at the front and fall long at the back.
Oh and huge silver/white heels with diamond thingos all over them.

So not the look I wanted... [Parents controlled this too. >_>]
yeah i know what you mean, but i honestly think that that would look really pretty...
you goin to have your hair up or down?
with a dress like that i would advise that you get a really pretty up style.
god i wish i could post how my hair looked like at my real formal..
my aunt's a hair dresser so i got it fo freeeeee :D :D :D but it looked really pretty..
i think youll look stunning kp :)

EDIT: dw..my dad picked both my formal outfits lmaoo...my mum and i didnt have much luck (my picky taste) but yeah my dad forced me to try some stuff on and i bought it..done and done!
but i got shitloads of compliments at both (+ heaps of guys asking me for a dance WOOOT) so yeah, dw, youll look divine :)

Thanks. :)
I want it down because I'm not comfortable with the amount of cleavage showing. :/
So I'm not sure how to do it. :(
PM it? :)
Oh lucky! I'm looking for a good hair-dresser. Last one I went to for my year 10 formal, made my blue streaks gross. And make-up was horrible.

Thaaanks! I hope so, haha. I have so much to prove, lol.

I just want to look beautiful for one night. ><
But now, I feel like I'm going to be attracting attention for the wrong reasons. :(
I was nearly in tears at the shop when they bought it for me. They were guilt-tripping me and stuff.

300. :/
+200 with the corset.
+130ish with the heels.

God knows how much the hair and make-up will cost.

I could be spending that money elsewhere OR even better, saving it. -.-
well you only have one year 12 formal in your life so you might as well splurge. my sister's yr 10 formal is coming up and she's getting 1000 dollars from my mum to spend on everything lol.

o_O
what
I spent like 200 or actually less for my dress. And it was pretty.
And 70 for make-up which was shit.
Then hair, I don't remember.

Still. I could've saved so much if they went with what I wanted.

do you guys spend your own money or leech off parents?

atm i have no job and it feels guilty making them buy me a dress over $150

): i know how dat feel katherine, my mother and i have different tastes and she won't let me buy the one i like because the material is cheap and apparently white looks fat on me
and she wants me to wear this ugly $500 suitable for 40 yr old woman dress out of her wardrobe.
it sucks when i have to depend on parents for money and they just control everything because it's their money.

God yes. I had being a burden on them.
Yes. They control everything. I mean everything.

I even offered to pay for my dress - the one I wanted.
bUt they were like no. Even got sucked into what the lady at the shop told them. >_>

Now... I look like...
I'm hoping to make it like vampiric, dark sort of look.
But yeah, no. I'm going to look bad.

does anybody know where I can get a black jacket thing like this to cover my fat shoulders? also, okay for formal or no?

katherinepierce i'm sure you'll still be stunning. i mean at least it's plain black and doesn't have hideous embroidery on it, right

you will look stunning, dw :)
ill ask my dad for the fotos and ill upload them on here :)
i think i said this before but yeah my dad chose both my outfits against my will lol..normally he picks shit that is suitable for 80 year old women +
but that time when me and him went shopping my mum warned him not to choose any elderly shit, so yeah he picked out young people stufff hahaha..
(shouldnt have gotten dresed at my gran's place though, my grandparents saw how short the dress is when i sit down...+ cleavage ..wasnt too much clevage at all, but it was still some cleavage and my grandparents are proper muslims lol so they were like you shouldnt go out like that..wear a jacket!!!! and my dad was like hell no!! she aint wearin no jacket on dat dress BOOM!)
our formals werent really formal formal...and shit people at my school are all crap, no one dressed up properly to their formals.
so yeah the first formal was sort of a school dinner and we were told to dress up "smart fuckin casual" and i was like hell no! so i bought this really pretty red cue dress...the material and print is just s beautiful..unfortunately the dresses that i could choose from were limited considering how i have light acne on my back which i would rather not show.so yeah it was closed from the back, knee length but it hugged my curves fantastically...(its in that post pics of urself thread)
but when i sat down the dress went up a loooot....and the crazy perve that had been touching my legs all year was sitting next to me at my formal and that made things even more awkward..(i got a marriage proposal that night...from him...ewwww)
at my other formal, my friends and i went down to the city, i wore a stunning very delicate top from pilgrim and i wore a very fitted black skirt with amazing set of toony bianco heels.

BUT i would have so wanted to dress up like really dressy to my formal...a whole gown and everything (i love trains btw..so yeah i would have wanted something like that *sobs* it sucks shit that we didnt have a proper formal formal)
but im looking forward to going to the uni ball and law ball in upcoming years..

It has weird black limp roses in the front under the halter neck bit. If they were sewed on tighter, it'd look okay. And weird thin pipe ribbon hanging. :/
And silver and black weird gem things. Gah.
