adsl doesnt get to 100mbps?
no, adsl doesn't get to 100mbps.

but using fibre you can get speeds well in excess of 100mbps. of course, the installation prices and ongoing monthly fees are well out of reach for the majority of homes ;) you can get fibre delivered anywhere in australia if you've got enough money.

in some other countries where fibre to the kerb rollouts have been undertaken, people get already access the internet at those sorts of speeds.

no, ADSL can go much faster than 1.5M

currently the max offered it 6-2M down.

but ADSL technology technically can go much higher as you use more channels, but that is not profitable. ADSL2 doesn't offer much more than speed than ADSL...

I just got the call from Telstra today that my line is ADSL compatible:D. All I have to do now is get a modem and I will be connected to ADSL. When I just dialled in on my dial up modem then though, I noticed that my connection speed has increased significantly. Before I never connect at anything above 31.2 Kbps and averaged around 28.8 Kbps and had been as low as about 24.0 Kbps, but I am now connected at 50.6 Kbps:).

Bigpond Cable Ultimate - this was a must have for me when I moved out of home into my own place. Needed to ensure I could stream 1080p to my TV whilst leaving sufficient bandwidth for my VPN to the office :)
