That would be a relationship with the church, would it not?
No not really, thats like saying that polies that do publicity stints or try to get votes from ppl makes them have an ongoing relationship

I have read that article before, and i havent seen any other links between them, so im inclined to think that it was to gain votes at a later election or because they were asked to and it would be a good media opportunity
The government gets asked to do alot of things that would increase voter numbers, but they don't....So why would they become members of Hillsong purely to gain votes? It wouldn't exactly be a viable exercise ... And they don't really need to join Hillsong to gain religious voters, as we all know Costello and Howard are staunch Catholics :)

I'm inclined to think they're involved with Hillsong coz they're religious

Korn, not all relationships need be 'official' or require continual affirmation. Stop disputing what is now a common 'fact'.

Whats ur point, yes there religious, but if they arent from the same denomination as Hillsong, there is no reason to think they would automatically support it. If they are from the same denomination then, yes they are highly likely to support it.
And Generator, u have only one instance where they are connected that only proves they arent totally against it. (there is a difference between not disliking something and actually liking it!)

Don't be so god damn naive Korn. Why on earth would the Howard government affiliate itself with something it does not support?

lol. fsgioerjhioperjph.

The Howard government are all religious, conservative liberals!!!!! Why, I ask WHY would they affiliate themselves with a religious organisation PURELY to gain votes???
You've got a religious government. A religious organisation. Obviously being a religious government means they're going to attract that target demographic already, without pulling a publicity stint.

As I said before, the Howard government could do alot more to attract more votes, something to appeal to the broader public. Hillsong is not it.

You would not open a centre if you did not like it or support its purpose, and it's more than clear where Costello stands on the general issue. There is a relationship, Korn, whether you want to admit it or not.
Oh shit, Costello does appear to be one of those Hillsong nuts
However it doesnt explain Howards relationship, i thought Howard was of the conservative Christian groups (im not sure which one though) So if anyone knows what denomination he belongs to plz enlighten

OMG NO!!!! A CHRISTIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RUN!!!!
It's funny when people attack people on things like them being christians, their denomination etc when they claim to be secularists

Seriously, If howard supporters were out bashing some politician for being a part of a islamic denomination i can imagine the outrage. "You racist facists!!!"

Can someone please explain to me how Costello being a member of hillsong makes him a bad person?

There will be an election amungst his party...
And personally i wouldn't be so sure costello will be the only main contender...

I'm rather worried about the next election, I feel that currently howard is the only REAL binding figure...

no.. I don't think many people regret it, it's just the normal way things go...
I remember just before the howard election polls were saying it was going to be "REALLY CLOSE!!!".
I think it's possible some people feel cheated about interest rates, but I think that's really not giving people enough credit.

By binding figure, i mean... he keeps the party together, no one crosses the isle, they all (on the surface) agree on their policies..

ok i dont think this has anything to do with it, but if johnny howard retires next year..like doesnt serve out his whole term, why is it that peter costello gets to take over? shouldnt there be like a re-election or atleast an election amonst his party..??

There would be a by-election for the seat of Bennelong, but as far as the Government is concerned, the position of the prime minister is not mentioned in the constitution, so an election to elect a PM is not going to happen. The PM is selected by the party that holds the majority which make up the government.
