I can picture howard having another election, then leaving very soon after...

But I dunno, if he's going to leave, it'll be sometime next year... at the moment I dunno, he might be getting ready to leave?

ohh i see. who else is in intention if he retires, reckon he will?

This is a very inner decision, being involved with the Liberal Party, none of our branches or executive know who would replace the prime minister.

If you disagree with the beliefs of Hillsong would you not strongly disagree with Costello holding those beliefs?

OMG NO!!!! A CHRISTIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RUN!!!!
It's funny when people attack people on things like them being christians, their denomination etc when they claim to be secularists

Seriously, If howard supporters were out bashing some politician for being a part of a islamic denomination i can imagine the outrage. "You racist facists!!!"

Can someone please explain to me how Costello being a member of hillsong makes him a bad person?
For one Hillsong ppl believe they have risen ppl from the dead (and im not talking about Jesus) i heard this from one of the ppl who go there when i was on a bus.
If im not mistaken they also believe in faith healing

That doesn't make him a bad person. By that same token, all Priests should be bad people to me, because I disagree with their beliefs.

If I think that the beliefs are morally wrong to have, it can flow perfectly logically that the person who adopts those beliefs and acts on them (thus acting in the wrong) is a bad person, because their morals are bad. I mean what defines a bad person other than acting immorally?

(assuming my beliefs are correct, which I believe them to be, therefore I should logically be able to think he is a bad person)

But yes. Neo liberal has certain scary connotations.

Asqy son of blue collar workers - followed by public school and a good dose of center left yr 12 history, legal studies, economics and english teachers who loved Whitlam and his pasta ads.

Plus two years at unsw arts doing globalisation courses, human rights courses, international law courses and history (of the Australian black armband variety) followed by Criminal law taught by another center lefty and public law taught by another center lefty. I also watch the ABC and SBS - it is safe to say that I'm the natural born adversary of the Liberal party. We are all creatures of our environment. My upbringing would not allow me to be a liberal party person.
meh....Whitlam grew up on the north shore and inner eastern suburbs of melbourne...he went to knox grammar....howard is from earlwood....i think these kind of class sterotypes are becoming irrelevant in the modern world...sectarianism is dead thankfully

True. However I think I was pointing out it has more to do with your educational experience. Whitlam may have grown up in the wealthy areas however he was schooled in human rights at an early age.

Didn't Whitlam go to Canberra Grammar?
he must have went to both.

Edward Gough Whitlam was born in the Melbourne suburb of Kew on 11 July 1916. He was the elder of two children of Martha (Maddocks) and Frederick Whitlam. When the government of Andrew Fisher set up the Federal Land Tax Office in 1911, Frederick Whitlam joined the Commonwealth Public Service and worked at the tax office. In 1913 he was promoted to the office of the Crown Solicitor, in the Attorney-General’s Department headed by Robert Garran. WM Hughes was the Attorney-General in the Fisher government.

In 1921 Frederick Whitlam became deputy Crown Solicitor for the Commonwealth. The family moved to Sydney, where they lived in the north shore suburbs of Mosman, then Turramurra. Gough Whitlam went to school at Mowbray House and then to Knox Grammar School.

Whitlam was 12 years old when his father was transferred in 1928 to the new federal capital of Canberra. He went to Telopea Park High School, completing the leaving certificate in 1931. Aged only 15, he was considered too young to go to university. He went to Canberra Grammar School to further his grounding in the classics by studying Ancient Greek. Whitlam sat the Leaving Certificate exam three more times between 1932 and 1934, and edited the school magazine, the Canberran.

The Whitlam family lived in a large house in the Canberra suburb of Red Hill, next door to the family of Health Department head, JHL Cumpston. When Whitlam finished school, his family bought their first radio – they had believed it too distracting for their children until then. In 1936 Frederick Whitlam became Commonwealth Crown Solicitor in the Attorney-General’s Department, when Robert Menzies was Attorney-General in the government of Joseph Lyons.

Gough Whitlam enrolled at the University of Sydney in 1935. He completed an arts degree, and began a law degree. His sport was rowing, and he was heavily involved in debating and the dramatic society. He edited his college journal The Pauline from 1938 to 1941 and the student magazine Hermes from 1939 to 1941.

You're an idiot.

Not only has the idea of a homosexual relationship between Howard and Bush been cited so often it is now really un-funny, it is well known that if such a relationship existed, it is Howard who would be the submissive one.

Again, you're an idiot.

Now now leetom, you know what they say about quiet ones.

Just because John Howard is submissive during the day it might not be the same case at night.

Only if these beliefs were interfering with me...
If he made some sort of 'people rising from the dead' law, i'd call him a loon.
