Re: Are Laptops rly nessesary for uni?
Answer; No
Fairytale's wright. People often take laptops to uni (as i've done lots) but not for lectures. Most unis (don't know about the one u might be going to) have electronic copys of their elctures anyway, so u can just print them out. Pen and paper is cheaper, doesn't run out of batteries (like my lappy has done a number of times) and doesn't weigh as much as lappy.
When people take lappy's to uni, generally, it's for assignments in the lib, or maybe in the food-court, or some common area, usually not lectures. There are always a few who do take them to lectures (i used to take one to arts lectures- but just cause my economics lectures had WAY too many formulas which takes ages to type up) and i can type way faster then write.
However, this said, in my 1st and 2nd year, i never did, and still passed with good marks, no issues. Pen and paper, much more efficient. So, while i know i've contracted myself a little, i'll quickly sum up. Yes you can, and people do, but mostly for assignments, not lectures, but, NO you don't need one. You don't even need to own a comp, they're everywhere around ANY campus, so just jump on one of them
