Ditto to Newie's site though. Man there's some super cheap offers there (or were). I dunno how great they are though, being so cheap. I guess a room is a room though.

i found 1 accommodation which is like less than 10mins walk to my Architecture Faculty... oo nice..... good price, but the downside is the dodgy furnitures

Seriously though, yeah Robinson property tend to have a lot of close properties. Also maybe check Apple Property Management, because they have a few sharehouse rooms on Sandgate Road in Shortland.

I really wanted to find a place there, but there were no rooms advertised on the uni website. Unfortunately I was forced to move to boring, crime free suburbs.

when some of you say you got rejected last week.. how did you find out? email?

I havent herd back from UNCLE yet about my accomodation.. I went and checked my application and it just said application now complete... does anybody know what this means?

Your online status will probably always stay as application is complete, means you submitted both referee reports and your application.
Yes, we found out by mass-email on Friday afternoon just before 5pm, so I assume they would avoid phone complaints until after the long weekend.
If you didn't get the email either you're in luck, you gave them the wrong email address or maybe your application was submitted late.

I'd say all the suburbs near the uni are okay. Birmingham gardens, North Lambton, Jesmond etc...

The only places that might be dubious are inner-city. Stay south of the train line and you'll be fine.

EDIT: you guys should seriously consider looking further up the train tine towards maitland. The train only takes about 20 minutes to get to uni.
