So people stop asking.

Can someone post the estimated exam marks for, say, raw marks of 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 / 84?

Just so this can be used as a reference.

Left column is raw mark (out of 84), right column is estimated aligned exam mark.

80 - 99
70 - 96
60 - 93
50 - 86
40 - 80
30 - 72

Thus, at a guess, E4 cut off is ~54/84.

It's quite a possibility considering what everyone has been saying. The test was not the hardest ever created but length and exam conditions combined created a deadly result which pulled alot of students down.

2007 was an easy year - cut-off was 65/84 which was pretty much 10 marks over the typical exam. In a hard exam, there is quite possibly an alternate result and the E4 cut-off, theoretically could be even slightly sub-50.

so if 54/84 is the e4 cutoff (quite likely, i'd estimate cutoff at 54/84 this year) then

84 = 100
81 = 99
78 = 98
75 = 97
72 = 96
69 = 95
66 = 94
63 = 93
60 = 92
57 = 91
54 = 90

if you get a mark of say 59/84, that translates to 91.666666667 by this scale, and hence, your reported will be 92

Umm if E3 was 39/84

then E4 Raw minus E3 Raw is 15 marks

E3 = 75 reported

hence there is a one to one relationship between E3 cutoff, E4 cutoff and raw marks (only for this range, remembering that the difference is linear)

39/84 = 75
40/84 = 76
...
53/84 = 89
54/84 = 90

This is only provided if E3 = 39/84, which I'd too assume is a safe guess

And do you think the e3 cut off is more likely to be higher or lower than 39?
