Hurlstone's school song is funny as well. :)

Our school doesnt have a school song (Girraween High). They play the national anthem for us to sing, but only the year 7s and teachers sing (loud and badly too)

To Abbotsliegh we raise our voice
in gratitude and praise
for all that she has stood for
through many years and days

We think of those who've led her
We think of those who've shared
We think of those who've done their best
and tho countless ones who've cared

We praise god for our heritage
and our school thats stood the test
and ask for strength and courage
to give to her our best

WE dont have one. We actually had a school competition to write a school song and the person that won would be the official writer of the school song. But the person that won wrote a really crappy song, and so we didnt use it. And we still dont have one.

We had one in primary school, the only line i knew then and somehow remember now is:

"We opened out gate in 78
For all us children an open gate"

My principal wants year 12/leaders to maybe pay for a school song to be written..... Not so sure....

De La Salle College Kingsgrove:

St John Baptiste we your childeren
Sing the glory of your name,
You will failth and zeal resplendent,
You for God young souls reclaim.......etc, (Chorus)

Then I went to Marist College Kogarah, the whole songs in Latin:

Suub tuum umpre sidiuem,
confugimus confugimus,
Nostra depricatsiones,
nedispeci us, nedispeci us,
inespiteti depriooooness,
blah blah........etc.

haha, I go to Fort Street HS and trust me when I say mine takes the cake. And I just happen to have my diary here, so I'll type out the whole thing for y'all.

Come let the strains resound
That echo Fort Street's glory
With laurels she is crowned
And famous is her story
Let us proclaim our school's immortal fame

Then hip hip hip hip hip, hurrah!
Hip hip hip hip hip, hurrah!
Hip hip hip hip hip, hurrah!

Our school's immortal fame.

Our predecessor's wrought
Great deeds that will not perish
And by them we are taught
The old school's name to cherish
And ne'er forget to her our mighty debt

Then hip hip hip hip hip, hurrah!
Hip hip hip hip hip, hurrah!
Hip hip hip hip hip, hurrah!

To her our mighty debt

In us her future lies
Then let us stand united
To win for her the prize
Of efforts well requited
Come Fortians cheer, the school's sublime career

Then hip hip hip hip hip, hurrah!
Hip hip hip hip hip, hurrah!
Hip hip hip hip hip, hurrah!

The school's sublime career

....

ahahahahahahaha

there's another one called 'fort street's name rings round the world', and it's equally wanky, but does not have the 'hip hip hip etc'

We also sing Gadeamus Igitur at Fort Street, about the last 5 times everyone has forgotten the third verse and started mumbling, then our principal (who is gone now for a while) starts having her little twitchy panick attacks.

The challenges which face us are overcome each day
We stand together all as one in the field of work and play
The help that we are given will guide us on our way
The vivid memories of our school, throughout the years will stay

Where paths will lead us who can tell?
As life moves on beyond the bell
Merewether guides the way
Scientia ac labore

To higher goals we aim to reach so we achieve our best
In sport and culture we excel to rise above the rest
Involvement in community: our never ending quest
Our pride in Merewether High we willingly attest

Where paths will lead us who can tell?
As life moves on beyond the bell
Merewether guides the way
Scientia ac labore

I guess it could be worse. Stuck in my head since choir in year fucking 7
